Bit of advice needed please people...
My girlfriend recently used a Barclaycard balance transfer cheque to pay off a large chunk of her Virgin Card - Virgin have accepted the payment, but Barclaycard have credited the money onto her account, instead of debiting it.
Natural inclination is to throw into our ISA until Barclaycard ask for it back, or to be honest and contact them (before asking for compensation for time/patience/honesty).
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar, or has some good advice?

Similar thing happened to me - but with my current accout. Just over £1500 appeared in there for no fathomable reason at all. Contacted my bank (being the honest guy I am) and they informed me it was an error on their part and it would be deducted. It actually took nearly 3 months to sort out, during which time it was just sat in my current account.
Each day it was in there I was thinking I could've been earning interest on this!
So my advice would be to put it into a savings account for now (remembering of course that it is not your money) and let Barclays know of their error. By the time they do get round to collecting it - hey presto, you've made 3 months interest on it! (which IMO is fair enough, after all you have been put out due to no mistake of your own).0
