Unlocked my phone no probs!!!
Just wanted to say THANKS to MSE for phone unlocking info. My contract is about to come up to its end and I'm sick of paying so much...I can never get the right plan SO today I unlocked my old phone using the Trycktill (?) website and it was EASY!!!!!! I am now ready to buy a Tesco sim card and have a smooth transfer when the time comes.
ps. the other websites were a bit overcomplicated requiring downloads etc. whereas the one I used was just type it in and GO!!! :T

I think my contract has ended, they sent me text messages to say so and I ignored them. Does that mean they have automatically renewed it? I'm with Orange and I too am sick of paying so much, I mainly use text messages but they never give me enough and I pay loads. My monthly contract payment is about £35 but I never pay less than £45, £57 and it has been £65!
I've had the phone over a year will I now have to pay to leave Orange, I would like to go back to 'pay as you go' or at least get a better deal. They always confuse me with science when I speak to them and it tajes aaaaaaages to get through.
Thanks for any advice from anyone

The trouble with those phone companies is that they want a month's notice to cancel!!! Last time I changed companies I had bills for both on the overlap period which was NOT CHEAP!!!
Give your notice in asap and try to plan it so you use up all you are owed but start with the new plan/sim seamlessly. I have had to unlock my last phone (Nokia) because my current one (Motorola V3) is too expensive and complex to unlock at the moment but i am prepared to use a rubbish old phone for the money it will save me. My fella went PAYG with Tesco and he's saved a fortune!!! My next task is to unlock his posh old phone for him (used to be on 3 before he went bankrupt!!! :j )Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -

Mine has just done the same 5p a text and I think cheaper for your 3 favourite numbers.
I will have to ring them and suffer theirbaffling chat but in the meantime does anyone think they will charge me to cancel the contract and if I do manage to get out of it will I then be able to switch my existing phone to Tesco?
Thanks for replies:beer:Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

It depends what your phone is as to whether you can unlock it free. Some require cables and payment...luckily my previous old phone was free to unlock and worked like a dream. Will keep my last phone until it can be unlocked free and then change to that!!!
If you have passed the end of your contract with Orange they can't charge you to leave, you just need to give 1 month's notice. If you put another sim card in your existing phone you'll have to change your number I think but thats a small price to pay for all the money we'll save!!
I know there are a lot of tempting contract offers around but I know that personally I'll be able to control my spending more doing it the Tesco way...at least I won't be getting any nasty surprise big bills to pay.
Good luck with it all anyway!!!!!!
