It's irrelevant to me as I wouldnt use supermarket petrol or diesel - you get what you pay for and they make savings by not using the additives you get with proper fuel. Yes it comes from the same source but the additives go into the tanker after it is filled for eg Shell & BP. False economy to use cheaper supermarket fuel, you could well end up paying for it in other ways.
see I've never been a believer in this, all these people saying oh you should buy this fuel cos it has extra additives that clean your engine blah blah blah............I've used mostly supermarket fuel for the last few years and never had any problems.....BigAl can you explain exactly how they fill a tanker then put additives in depending on who its going to? And since Maxol don't own their own refineries and buy their fuel in does the same not apply to Maxol as well then?
I'm just a sceptic when it comes to these things I tend to think its either petrolheads wanting the best technology for their car or scaremongering along the lines of if its cheaper it can't be any good...........as I say I'm a scepticNorn Iron Club Member #64

Got stung for 80 quid at Newcastle Tesco on Friday, and when I asked for my voucher I got a blank look at the till!
Decided to wait til I got home to check my dates, then phoned Tesco to query, only to be told the deal wasn't on.
Usually shop in Tesco anyways, but could've gotten away with about £25 this week, decided to stock up on wine & freezer food just to get the 5p coupon!
Wish I'd been on here earlier as I really feel ripped off
Bad PR exercise far as I'm concerned, will be going elsewhere next time.
Every little helps!0 -

the mrs works for vauxhall , when people come in complaining about their car and its not performing well. one of the first thing she asks is , where did you get your fuel (90% of the time its supermarkets).
She says supermarket fuel is fine for long journeys but not for short start and stop journeys/school runs etc..0 -
Well all you had to do was go to Sainsburys and you would have got the 5p voucher off petrol and diesel, even better they don't put the price of the fuel up before the promotion starts like Tesco does :money:0

fair enough that'll explain why I haven't had a problem as mine never gets a short run lol!! probably also explains why my mate's 2 year old Scenic has crap mpg because he regularly does short trips and bought supermarket fuelNorn Iron Club Member #64

Sent a letter of complaint about their confusing advertising to Tesco - relax, they are 'investigating' :T ...
Thank you for your email.
I am very sorry for the problem you experienced with our 5p off fuel promotion. I can appreciate how disappointing this must have been for you. (Aye Right!)
Unfortunately, this promotion is not available in Northern Ireland at this time. We occasionally promote offers in selected areas at different times. (You promoted it here!)
This current offer excludes Tesco Express and our stores in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Brigg, Porthmadog, Consett, Market Weighton and Calais. I sincerely apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused by the advertising error which seems to have occurred. Please let me assure you that we are currently investigating this matter. (Aye Right again!)
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope that despite this issue, you will continue to shop with us in the future. (Just back from Asda after filling up with 55 quid - 1p a litre cheaper than Tesco!)
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk
Glad that's sorted then, well done :T0 -
I read in the Belfast Telegraph (weds am edition), that Tesco has bowed to pressure and apparently will be issuing vouchers for 5p off petrol from today (thurs).
I dont have the paper in front of me now, but from memroy the offer will run until the 20th July.
Please check before you spend your £50, but it definately said that in the Telegraph.0
