Tesco petrol adverts

hello!

has anyone seen the adverts for tesco petrol deals at the mo? i caught it on sky 1 on sunday night saying that they were starting their "spend £50 in store and get 5p off per litre of fuel" supposedly starting on 30th june. i went on monday night (30th june) and spent over £50 and didnt get a voucher for the deal!!!

we went to customer services and complained and they said that they only heard of it that morning when people started complaining about not getting their vouchers at the till

my hubby phoned tesco yesterday morning and they said that it didnt cover northern ireland. ive never heard of this before - they usually cover us folks over here with their deals. anyone else ran into problems with this?

thanks

Did you notice if it had any T&C on the tv ad?

They shouldn't be showing the ad in our tv area though if it isnt covered!

Having worked in a Tesco petrol station for 4 years I can actually confirm that the first time we knew about the promotion was when a customer presented us with a voucher.

Also be warned Tesco have a habit of increasing their price by 1p-2p when the offer is on, you have been warned!

!!!!ers! I got caught by this too - normally shop in Tesco but added a few extra items to the basket to bring my spend over £50 and got no coupon. I've been trying to see the advert again to check for T&Cs but haven't seen it since.

If I do and there are no clear NI clauses I'll be complaining to the ASA - Their complaint form is here for anyone interested.

Just seen the ad on Virgin 1. It does say Excludes NI in the T&Cs at the bottom of the screen.
I was in Tesco Knocknagoney yesterday and at the checkout there was a notice saying the promotion was not available in NI.

I got an email from Tesco on Wednesday advertising the 5p off a litre for a £50 spend :j . On Thursday I went to my nearest Tesco (26 mile round trip), spent £60 and no voucher:mad: . When I asked for it the girl on the check-out said it wasn't available in NI. I was furious:mad: . I have emailed them about it and rang in to the Stephen Nolan show on Friday as he was covering it. Tesco's response to the Nolan show was that they weren't running in in NI at the moment because most people are on holiday but will run it at a later stage. Now I have no problem with them not running the offer at the same time as the mainland UK. What I do take issue with is the fact they sent me an email advertising this. I drive to their store spend my money and THEN they tell me it not available in NI. GRRRR:mad:

Their explanation is in today's newspaper - NI excluded because it the offer period included our public holiday in July and they felt it was not that appropriate to make such an offer (what they didn't say was because most people will be buying loads for the holiday and spending over £50 anyway!)

So apparently we will be getting an offer at some point in the future - but I cannot see them excluding GB when it comes to us!!

It's irrelevant to me as I wouldnt use supermarket petrol or diesel - you get what you pay for and they make savings by not using the additives you get with proper fuel. Yes it comes from the same source but the additives go into the tanker after it is filled for eg Shell & BP. False economy to use cheaper supermarket fuel, you could well end up paying for it in other ways.

I meant supermarket petrol, e.g. Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury.
