            Click this link: http://www.whatsmyip.org/
It will show you your IP.
Reboot your router or better still turn it off over night, then check your IP again and see if it changed.
I am on a static IP but when I was with BT I could force a change every day.
I do know another way to do it but it costs money.
While you are connected using broadband also start up a dialup account and you will have the dialup IP.0

Most ISPs use a dynamic IP address to connect on net, they can change every time you connect. Some ISP's provide static IP address which is the same all the time, the helps if you run a server at home for a web site etc or want to connect from another pc in another location using some software to control that pc at home using program like realvnc I run that on my server
Your router will have its own IP address as mentioned above
each pc them connects to that router at home with a dynamic ip addrees or you can set each one up to use a static IP address, however that is a different address from when you conenct on net and you can be traced static IP address is more easier to trace dynamic IP address many other users could us that IP address during teh course of the day if you disconnect and then reconnect
Bl....dy h..ll! If only I understood a word you said! :rotfl:I love this forum and thank everybody who contributes to it!0

On Virgin Media, even if you disconnect from the net, you'll get the same IP address back again. You have to be disconnected for at least 24 hours and then you might get a new one, but VMs IP address are very sticky. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

It's an interesting question by the OP.
There have been a couple of competitions where the T&Cs say that multiple entries from the same IP address will be discarded.
On that basis, every entry made by people at work will be invalidated, as mentioned above, all the computers on the work's internal network will have their own individual IP address, but once passed through the router to the outside world, presents the whole office with 1 external IP address.
The same also goes for people like me on dynamically assigned IP addresses, once I turn off my router, someone else can grab my now free IP address, and if they enter the same competition, they invalidate both our entries!
I wonder how many competitions do this, rather than compare postal and email addresses for discarding duplicate entries?A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

 No worries.
You're likely to keep the same IP address for months and months and months, just switching off router / modem and switching back on is extremely unlikely to get a new IP address, usually need it switched off for at least 24 hours and then it's highly likely you'll get the same IP address back - very sticky IP addresses with VM.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
