I presume she is going to charge a fee?
With the elf and insanity brigade so rife at the moment I would be careful. We were going to have this at a hospice charity function and we had to:-
Have adequate insurance in case of damage to childs health. (allergic reaction, paint in eyes, etc etc.)
Depending on sex of face painter an additional person to check no naughty business with child.
Police check for any past misdemeanours (if not already checked).
Fresh brush or brush sterlised in between each child.
etc etc etc.
These sort of things have got out of hand and it is sad cos the kiddies love it.
We got round all this as the lady doing it was a nurse, medically trained already checked etc., Also the hospice had accidental insurance.
Would I personally do it at a car boot no way hose.
Please feel free to shoot me down in flames but this actually happened!!0 -
Thankyou for your reply she is a teacher so is already police checked etc but we won't be getting insured and buying sterilising machines.
Thanks for the advice

Im with seashore here, gone are the good old days sadly.
What would happen if a child had an allergic reaction to the face paints? Parents would be up in arms over it. Plus, if you aren't sterilising the sponges etc between children you could pass on skin complaints like impetigo.
I wouldn't do it, far too much risk for the sake of a few ££'s0 -
I think its a great idea that would be great fun and earn a few pounds. I have seen them at boot sales and there is alwaysa big queue0

Just buy disposable sponges. Parents should know their own children to knowif they are allergic or not.
Good luck !TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -

Depending on the sex of the face painter?
Are you serious?!?0 -
Yes absolutely! That is what we were told men should not be left alone with a young child of either sex. Not just for the childs sake but for the painter as well I presume. A sad indictment of our times I am afraid.0

That's the most ridiculous load of sexist nonsense I have ever heard!
Never-mind that most child abuse isn't sexual, most child abusers are actually female, and most child abusers are member of the victim's family.
Who needs facts when there's a good dose of moral panic to go around?
Imagine the furore there would be if they said you couldn't leave a black person alone with a kid.
If I was ever told this by anyone, they would be hearing from my lawyer. If they were employing me to do something, I'm pretty sure this would be discriminatory and highly illegal.0 -
I absolutely agree we were horrified, it takes all the fun out of everything and questions where theheck we are going. It seems we are going backwards.0
