The sites can be a hit/miss. I thought would risk and get a feel for the people who came round. The builder who doing some work was the first to come round was the cheapest although not always good thing; got a good feel for him and all the changes/questions/queries I kept giving and he was always happy to answer and straight away too.

The electrician not done the work yet but out of two who came from the site; he the only one who quoted.

Although both low ratings; they told me they dont use that often so understand that. All have to start somewhere and get points I suppose.

So far very happy with the builder I got even if he only does 5 hours a day!!!

Don't have experience of the other site, but I know the 'mybuilder' site calls the refernces and checks out them (got a call from one stating someone called asking lots of questions about me- I forgot to tell them I was using them for another refernce :rotfl: )

I would always say to people looking for tradespeople - try word of mouth first, always use registered companies
    baldly going on...

You could have finished your bathroom and started on mine the time it must have took you to write your essay.
I would imagine "corgiguys" estimate on the electrics was about right, and i think that the unrealistic quote you had £65-00 will never get off the ground,Would be interested to know how it turns out,Its nothing against you (fair play) goto save money-I just dont see how they can follow all the laws and regs, and charge this sort of money,Cash in hand? using the companys certificate?

    UPDATE
Well the electrician came today and did the work; the wiring is not 'dug' into the wall and nicely neated but for £85 I cant complain. In addition, the wall is going to be plastered in the next day or so and thus will be covered over.

So very happy with it all in and all
  • I tried http://www.egenie.co.uk and it was a really good choice.
