I'm assuming you're not married. If you are, I want to know your secret.
Not married, but engaged... does that mean it all goes downhill from here?

We once broke a bed in an amsterdam hotel after going to a sex show. What were you upto!
What were we upto? Well, in the words of the song by the Vengaboys: "Up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down. And up, and down...

Yes, you can claim for it. I've dealt with severa claims like it. Tends to be a bit of a laugh and giggle then is forgotten about.
Thanks for that info. Do you think they'll just replace it straight, or will they send someone out to repair it?

    Right. Here we go.

Me and my OH have broken our bed. Yes, while doing that. It's split down the side and is now all creaky and lop-sided.

We've got Lloyds TSB Home Solutions Contents Insurance with the accidental damage premium.

Does anyone know if we can claim or not? What would be the most likely outcome?

Oh yeah... and here's how it looks:

You weren't doing anything that is any different from what anyone would expect a bed to withstand (unless you were diving off the wardrobe), so I can't see why you wouldn't be able to claim.

Well, looking at the evidence in your photograph, I would definitely conclude that the damage was the result of a dodgy screw.

How long have you had your bed?
You may have rights under the "sales of goods act" with respect to the bed not being "fit for purpose" and yes a certain degree of passion would be expected provided you aren't jumping off wardrobes or swinging from chandeliers :-)

It comes down to how long your had it.
If you've had it for 10 years then it's not going to fly but if you've had it 6 months then it would suggest there is a fault.
Difficult to say where the dividing line is, but a reasonable person would expect a bed to last many years.
