Passion broke our bed - Can we claim?

Right. Here we go.

Me and my OH have broken our bed. Yes, while doing that. It's split down the side and is now all creaky and lop-sided.

We've got Lloyds TSB Home Solutions Contents Insurance with the accidental damage premium.

Does anyone know if we can claim or not? What would be the most likely outcome?

Oh yeah... and here's how it looks:

Could you not omit the fact what you were doing? and just say it broke? Surely a bed should be able to widthstand normal use?

Wow, good work. Perhaps you should consider becoming professional bed testers.

I'm assuming you're not married. If you are, I want to know your secret.

In terms of your question, sorry I'm not sure.

Yes you should be covered under accidental damage.

And the advice is TELL THE TRUTH.

Don't say it just broke.... because that won't be covered!!!

I'd say you have to look at cost of replacing it yourself against cost of excess and a possible rise in premiums.

We once broke a bed in an amsterdam hotel after going to a sex show. What were you upto!
  • I think you would be bonkers to put in a claim. I'd withdraw while you still can. I'd also be very reluctant to freely post a photograph that shows your wood so openly to everyone on this forum.

i've got to say that these type of beds aren't very strong anyway especially if there's knots in the wood at vulnerable places, my ex broke 2 (yes 2!!) of these beds just by getting in and out of bed and by kneeling on the egde of them, if you saw my ex you'd know why it wasn't broken in the hanky panky way. I've now got a new divan.....and a very new sexyier much lighter man!!!!

Yes, you can claim for it. I've dealt with severa claims like it. Tends to be a bit of a laugh and giggle then is forgotten about.
