What a great thread, I was planning to go to a cookery course to learn how to mix the spices for a curry but now all I will do is look on this thread and make my own curries from the recipes!

Sorry to be tedious, but I've searched for 45 mins now trying to find the basic curry sauce recipe that Curry Queen once posted. I have it bookmarked at home, but I'm at work and can't find it! I'm shopping for ingedients at lunchtime ... please help someone!0

As an attempt to cut down our spends and also our waistlines, we have decided to cut down on takeawys and meals out in restaurants.
I have tried a couple of "from-scratch" indian curry recipes at home and I don't know if it is just me being a bad cook but they don't taste anywhere near as nice as the takeaway or restaurant ones.
Does anyone have any good tips or recipes?0 -

I think that the main difference is the amount of oil in a takeaway. The takeaway nearly always adds far much oil than we would at home. The tastiest curries I make at home are the ones with the most oil.0
