    Me too!:rotfl:

I had a looooooong day at work yesterday and popped into Mr T for some cheese and ended up swiping a pot of that really thick cream for 10p! I've frozen it in an ice cube tray and am going to fancy up my sauces with it, ad hoc.

Off to dentist today in a nearby village taking a picnic to have on the village green afterwards so kids can play in the park (its nicer than ours;) )

    morning!

last morning of 'peace' before the school holidays! just noticed that my bean plants have loads of beans on them.:j meant to be french beans, and i am sure i planted climbing beans ... but they don't seem to be climbing very much! so i assumed they wouldn't be producing yet !

how do i freeze green beans? do i have to blanch in boiling water, or can i put them straight in the freezer?

and another question ... how do i know when my carrots are ready to pull? last year they all got eaten by mice (we live by the railway!) i've lost some this year and don't have a huge number left!

my veggie patch also seems to be growing a few baby nettles too!;) going to have to try cooking with them now! (how long do i cook them / what do i do to lose the sting?)

    thats it with the questions!

ps congrats growing a family! well done.

I like the idea of the yorkshires with fillings, but I am cooking for one at the moment and so I was wondering about freezing unfilled but cooked Yorkshires. I know that you can buy frozen Yorkshires so I'm assuming that this would work?
If anyone has any info or ideas I'd be grateful - eg would you reheat from frozen in a microwave or defrost first?
Would you fully cook them before freezing?

The other alternative that I thought of is to make Yorkshires for me for one meal and use remaining batter to make pancakes for freezing.

I do this. I cook them fully (till they are just golden, rather than really brown. Then cool and freeze them in bags. I defrosted them in the fridge overnight and then just warmed em up in the oven for about 5 minutes or more when the next roast was in there ;)

They are slightly soggier the second time round but I still like em ;)

My only challenge is freezing them before OH spots them and eats them!!! :D

Into my mind popped a picture of hosts of mice getting to your garden on awaydays! :rotfl:
  • lol C! What plans are afoot I wonder? Very mysterious!! Got to spend it do you have actual recipe for veggies toad in hole? Could try to slimming worldise it so those of us trying to loose the ibs we put on can loose them again!

All this talk of yorkshire pud is making me hungry!

I don't have a recipe as such- just grill two veggie sausages per person (Quorn sausages are very low in fat and work well) place in a well oiled baking dish, pour over batter as per recipe in previous post then bake for 35 minutes. I think this would also be really nice with some chunks of onion, brocolli, cougette etc added along with the sausages which I guess may make it more SW friendly.

For fennel I have a recipe which uses it in a ratatouille type-thing. So just onions, garlic, fennel, courgettes and aubergeines (or whatever you have in a tomatoey sauce). The recipe also suggests chucking in some black olives which I do quite a lot if I have them. It's very nice. Unfortunately, my BF doesn't like fennel so now we live together I can't make it anymore.

Could you make the beetroot into soup (Borsch). I know it's a bit warm at the moment but you could freeze it for later.
