Maybe, I'm not sure how much manual intervention would go into that - or if it could be fully automated. I would think very little. Even if there is I would like them to break it down. i.e:

System flags up non-flying passenger - refund card - done.

On a seperate note, does aybody know of any retailers that levy an admin fee for issuing a due refund?

But they don't have to show you their breakdown. Just like they don't have to show you the breakdown of the ticket price.

If it is challengable, which I still suspect it is, the DJ could ask to see it as part of the case, or via full disclosure?.

They should just show it to prove they are not naughty little bunnies. They won't of course.

easy jet will refund all the airport tax if you do not travel, no fees, this is fact! No time limit!

Not all airlines keep the APD and refund it without admin charges. One other is BA, but am unsure about the others.

It has been mentioned on this thread, we are really talking about the ones that won't but cheers anyway.

Maybe a sticky on the ones that do/don't (re your other thread) would be a good idea.

I completely disagree from my knowledge of the legal principles. But there we go.

Could I suggest that, if you are so sure that you are right, you take one of the airlines to court? You could easily book a cheap flight and then attempt to reclaim the taxes when you don't show/ cancel it.

Or does Thailand just load the gun but wait for someone else to shoot it ?
Just because its automated, doesnt mean there shouldnt be a charge.
The whole world is automated now. My car tax was completely processed by an automated telephone line. They still charged me !

BTW I recently had to pay a name change fee for a mistake I made. Instead of ranting about rip offs etc Im just mad at my self for making such a simple error, especially after my advice to CHECK< CHECK and RE CHECK b4 paying

Me: There’s an administration charge for me reaching into my pocket. That charge is always greater than the amount of your money I have in my pocket. So, when you asked for your money back, it instantly became mine.
