HomeChioice-- Wire or Wireless?

I'm planning on signing up with Homechoice, and because my settop box is a distance from my computer am considering the wireless solution.

Does anyone know or had experince of the wireless solution(i think the agent said they use netgear), and will cost £75?

or should I just get it wired (£1), and by the wirless kit seperatly?

Is homechoice over a BT line? If so try searching https://www.dabs.com and https://www.ebuyer.com for an "ADSL wireless router". You would also need a wireless access card for the PC (usually about £20 - various different kind available).

I have the homechoice wireless option. If I were more techy, I might have tried sorting it out myself, but definitely have found it well-worth the £75 extra that I paid for it.
They provide you with a decent set-up and when my router went a bit funny, they came out very quickly and the engineer fixed it (which, in itself was worth the initial outlay!).
I have seen the provided router on sale in PC World (it's a Netgear one) on sale for more or less the same price and having the support included was worth it for me!
I really like the Homechoice service, all in all, incidently (and no, i don't have any connection to them!).
  • If you buy a router yourself, don't do as was suggested above and look for an ADSL wireless router as this will likely have a modem built in and so be incompatible. The HomeChoice box acts as a modem, so you'll need a Cable/DSL wireless router.
