Well the RIAA have no jurisdiction in the UK anyway. It is illegal to copy CD's and DVD's however as far as I know no-one has ever been prosecuted for copying ones they actually own and there are moves to make that legal. It has always been illegal to copy ones form the library or a friend and that won't change. Anyone else remember the 'home taping is killing music' campaign in the eighties?
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

It wouldn't make sense to alienate the very people who are buying music by doing that.

The *IAA have very little sense. Witness the prosecutions in the US of people who don't own PC's, the homeless, the disabled, children, even the dead...
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Being dead is no excuse for breaking the law.

There are even potential plans to make you prove you own all the music on an iPod when you travel into another country, at the moment over the Canada/USA border, read about it here. If you can't it'll be confiscated! Effectively it'll be impossible to "prove" you own it all, unless you can carry the hundreds of CDs you've ripped onto it in the first place, somewhat defeating the object of a tiny music player ;)

Most reasonable people would assume that once you've purchased it, you should be able to do what you want with it, for personal use as long as you aren't copying or distributing it to others who haven't paid for it first.

    Guilty unless proved innocent then?

Of course, you could actually read the article instead of assuming they actually broke the law:
Perhaps granny was dishing out illicit mp3s prior to her demise. Not so, says her daughter Robin Chianumba, who says her mother didn't want PCs in the house, and had absolutely zero experience operating them.

Don't tell me you thought Fifer was making a serious statement. :rotfl:
