Can anyone tell me the best time to book a holiday on line? and how to get all the extra's0

emmaBZ - there's every possibility they will price match, its definately worth a go but you could do with Currys to beat the other stores price. Worth bearing in mind though that they're part of the same group (the DSG group)
lol at your Christmas sig btw0 -
Hi, I am in the process of having my kitchen extended and need new units. We need it done as soon as possible as I am having to cook on a little camping stove at present in my dining room! I have looked around a lot and have settled on the Clevedon kitchen at B&Q. They are coming out on Monday morning to design it for us. Pennies are tight and I am after a good deal. I would be so grateful to hear if anyone has had any luck haggling the price down with them and what the best tatic would be.
We had Wickes out and I am waiting for a price from them but because of the terrible service we had we will not be going to them. The designer was here for 2 hours and then said he would do the plans back at the shop and let us know when they were ready. That was Monday and we still havent heard. I intend on collecting the quote from them when it is ready as this may be good to try and barter with B&Q on their price promise.
Any help gratefully recieved.0 -

Have you checked out the price comparison sites like Price Runner? You can often get a much better price on there, then go through a money back site like Quidco for that little bit extra. I'm a major fan of Quidco, I started using it in March and I've earned almost £200 just by using it as a link to the sites I'm buying from.:T
I bought my cooker, hob, extractor, fridge & dishwasher on the internet a few years ago using pricerunner and having a good shop around and I saved over £1000 on what I would have paid at high street stores like currys and comet, so it's definately worth a try.
You never know they might price match a quote you find online.:D
Good luckOverpaying on mortgage and hoping to be mortgage free in 5 years saving approx £35,000 in interest!:j0 -

We had our kitchen done a couple of years ago and got quotes from B&Q & MFI then got quotes from a couple of local kitchen suppliers who quoted us on 18mm thick rigid made to measure units vs flat pack standard sizes from the others.
We bought the kitchen from a local company (Eclipse Kitchens, Wigan http://www.eclipsekitchens.co.uk/) their Rep was very helpful and not at all pushy he didn't push us to buy the appliances through them (I bought them online much cheaper).
He asked what we needed and did a design that worked very well for us and gave us a quote there and then.
I was amazed that Eclipse were actually cheaper that MFI & B&Q as we got a much better quality made to measure kitchen for much less than flat pack.:j
Also availability was very good as they make their own units.
I think they supply other area not just the Wigan area, so anyone who's interested they're highly recommended.:dance:Overpaying on mortgage and hoping to be mortgage free in 5 years saving approx £35,000 in interest!:j0 -
Hi Alcol, Thanks for that. I had ruled out our local kitchen shop as I thought they would be to expensive but on your suggestion I have been down to visit them and they are booked to come in on tuesday to give us a quote. I saw a lovely kitchen which I like so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are cheaper than B&Q . At least I can play one of against the other and hopefully get a good deal.. I have brought all my appliances on line already and got a really good deal.0

Whenever I have bought a new car I always get the latest Car Price guide from the newsagent. Dealers use their "secret" Glasses Guide but the numbers are pretty much the same. I take the guide with me and make sure the salesperson sees it - they always comment something like "I see you've done your research then". I bought my wife a new (2nd hand) car in May. I used "Parkers Car Guide". If you know the reg. and the mileage of the car you are interested in, you can send a text to Parkers with this info. and comes back within seconds giving you confirmation of the car's details and the different prices, dealer, part ex etc. I showed the salesman this on my phone so he new what price I was looking for. Without any haggling he offered me a full tank of petrol (worth about £60 at the moment) 12 months warranty, 12 months MOT, and Paint/Leather protection which meant he got his price and I got a good deal - a win/win situation.
The text costs £3 from memory but well worth it when you are spending thousands.
In our experience the Parker's guide valuations always seem to be considerably higher than the Glass's valuations - we had both the Parker's price guide and a Glass's online valuation with us on our visit to the dealer -and both valuations said the part-ex price for ours should be much higher than the £800 he offered us (albeit Parker's was about £200 more than Glass's, but still both more than £800!).
I showed him the Parker's valuation. His reply to this was 'if I give you the Parker's part-ex value for your car, I will have to sell you the new car at Parker's trade price', which effectively made us no better off in the bargain.
Not defeated, I showed him my Glass's valuation. His reply to this was 'the whole car market is operating WELL below Glass's at the moment, given the current situation re: fuel and road tax bandings'. Therefore he could do no better on the deal and wouldn't budge.
We walked away as we couldn't raise the extra £800 we would have needed to do the deal, and I also felt like we were getting ripped off!
This visit was on 28th June, right at the end of a month, so this dealer maybe didn't have month end targets to meet? Or had already met them.
Interestingly enough we've just had a phone call today (3rd July) to say the car we were interested in has been reduced by - £800. The exact amount we were short by.
It seriously makes me wonder......had he met his targets for June and was deferring us till July, as we were really keen on the car and he thought he'd clinch it next month?
I really have no idea how these dealers work!0 -

I got a kitchen off Eclipse over 10 years ago, and as promised, it is still in excellent condition and not had any problems with doors falling off, broken hinges etc. The quality of their units is far superior to the likes of B&Q and Wickes. well worth the money.0
