sorry to hear you are having a hard time. The way the economy is at the moment I think everyone is feeling the pinch. I was able to put £20 petrol in my car a few months ago and make it last 2 weeks... now i'm lucky if it lasts a week and I'm not doing any extra miles. Bread, Milk etc have all gone up and i'm also struggling to pay debts and feed by hubbie and two kids... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yep, a lot of us are struggling at the moment.

After an unexpected vet bill last week, we've now got £20 to last us 2 weeks for a family of 4. That makes your budget look much better

    Thanks

Looks like it will be a quiet week for us then. Short trips to the local park. Thanks for the idea of making petrol last. Must start walking more. unfortunatley my son goes to school 2 miles away so we need the car daily.Grr

I hate this credit crunch dont you? :(

I totally with you on eeeking out what little you have. Try not to worry about the credit card bills too much, put the kids first. Set aside £100 for the groceries, and split the £70 into three weekly amounts (I know its not much) and then pay what you can to the creditors. They will have to take it, cos you have nothing else to give them. Good luck honey.

sugarpants, keep your head up and try to think positive,

what you find is that things will actually start to roll in, i reckon you should have a quick look at things like quidco which always has a bit of money in it waiting to come out.

Also look at just not paying the cc this time rather than having to spend on it because you will just end up cancelling out the amount you paid off!

will keep thinking of some ideas..

Sugarpants, I know how you are feeling, I am struggling too and there is only me to consider, if my chap didnt give me money occasionally then I don't know where I would be. This credit crunch is dreadful because I have had to spend more on my credit card in order to survive and keep my car running etc. I cannot do without the car because the bus service to my parents' house is unreliable and it is a mightly long walk about 10 miles:eek: I seem to live on thin air these days:mad:

You say that you son's school is 2 miles away, can he not walk to school? I know it may sound extreme that the school is so far away but I lived 2.5 miles from school and what was more irritating was the fact that the sOchool bus that visited the surrounding villages that were 3 miles away actually went past the end of my road but I wasn't allowed to use it. I walked too and from school.

Rather than give them beans, if you have some spuds and onions you could make a spud and onion pie. Or you could make sausage surprise - use any veg that you have and a tin of tomatoes (chopped is best but any will do), and heat it up (add herbs and spices and perhaps an oxo cube) and serve it with some bread, rice or pasta - note the lack of sausages - hence the name surprise (surprise there are no sausages:rotfl: ).
  • Not sure how to say this without sounding annoying - but have you cut the price on the house you are trying to sell? two years is an awfully long time.

You're better to spend on the credit card than to not pay the minimum payment.

If you pay the minimum and then spend that again, you'll just incur normal interest rates at your balance won't increase.

If you don't pay anything then you're balance won't increase but you'll end up with a hefty payment penalty that you'll have to fight to claim back.
