BB, if you try to last until october without spending a penny you will probably get cystitis, lol!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I'm just popping in to reiterate what Sophiesmum said about the personal opinions. We all have them and they shouldn't really be open for debate or discussion in a financial challenge thread, especially in the wake of the postings being deleted from the grocery challenge. I have problems with people spending anything on non-essentials when living on a very tight budget because of debts, but that's a whole different thread that would be needed for that one.
(No offence meant to anyone, just using this as an example
)

Ohh Marru can you tell me who your ridiculously expensive cream is made by? I normally buy “never to busy” products and all of lush stuff as I love it, cos it’s…well…lush, thankyou for the advise on the pet food, it’s 2 votes for burns now so I’m going to order that right now off t’internet, I just know she’s going to turn her little nose up at it, she’s such a fussy little madam and then she’ll come crying wanting her normal food….you can’t win, my ethical issues vs whinging kittie…..what’s a girl to do?
Slowly fading with the cooked chicken I have used leftovers of it in a curry before for my oh and he said it was nice ( I don’t know for sure as I don’t eat it but he will usually tell me if it tastes rubbish:D ), just make sure it's cooked through thoroughly.

Sukielou, I will send you a link as pm. My excuse is that I don't use any make up or smells so I can be a bit extravagant with the only skincare I use.
I have polished off a big container of stir fry with noodles (HM from freezer) and I am still hungry, off to investigate what else I can eat. This is ridiculous. Start of the week I am exhausted and can't get enough sleep and the rest of the week I am hungry and can't get enough to eat. I hope I will find some kind of balance eventually."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Omg, I don’t post for ages and now I won’t shut up! Nyk, you are quite right, I have edited my posts accordingly, I didn’t mean to start a debate on the rights and wrongs of it all but in hindsight I can see why it would, I was just so annoyed with myself more than anything for not spotting it sooner and knew someone on here would be able to help me out. Apologies x
Ps Thank you Marru, ohh yes they are expensive but look lovelyLive on 4thou a year £2685 from 01May08Total left to spend: £1086.35I have enough money to last me the rest of my life. Unless I buy something! :heartpuls0 -
Thanks for the suggestions re: the chicken - think I'm going to do a curry with the leftovers! xBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hi,
I went to costco tonight with my sisters. It's one of their birthdays on Saturday (21st) so the other one wanted to order a cake. I had a look around at the stuff you can buy in bulk, ie, toilet rolls, washing powder, softner etc. I remembered buying a tub of washing powder from there years ago and it lasted me a year. They have a similar one there just now, just over a tenner and you should get around 400 washes from it, not bad at all!!
The toilet rolls work out around 32p each and am not sure about the kitchen rolls, I would need to buy 48 toilet rolls though, I'd just store them in my back cupboard or throw some of them up into the loft.
I will go back and take the calculator and pen/paper with me next time to make sure it is worthwhile. Do any of you buy stuff in bulk?
I'll also really need to get my presents sorted out and see what I still need to get for Christmas.
I've started checking my countdown list off though, so am pleased about that.0 -
OMG! Need to do some major trimming down on expenses (though I'm not sure just where I can
)
Just had a play with the site that was linked to which generates an SOA (using the incoming/outgoing figures we'll have from December onwards), and the outgoings are £250 pcm more than the incomings :eek: :eek: :eek:
My mobile is a fair chunk of that (£43), but I'm on contract until August 2009 -- and to come out early they want as much as I'd pay monthly for the rest of the termAnd I've not even included any figures against several outgoings I know I should (eg. presents, clothes, emergency fund, other travel, medical :eek:

I think that this is a very friendly and welcoming thread. I have been posting here for about 3/4 weeks now and everyone on it is supportive and non-judgemental, they are all about being helpful. The same can't be said for some of the other threads on here that I have read, some people can be quite spiteful. On the other hand there are a real helpful bunch of folks who will take their own time and organise the running of challenges etc, like NYK, she doesn't have to organise this thread, but she does it in between everything else in her busy life.
Thanks NYK and all the other regular posters who I've gotten to know over the last few weeks. I :heart2: you ALL.

Hello everyone.
I am a long time lurker, and posted quite a few months ago when i had just had my little boy. I have been trying to cut our spending down during this time, and the way money is going, i finally feel able to join in and try the challenge if that is ok at this late stage.
I want to try from the 1st of October, so that would make 3 months. I will go for £1000, plus my child benefit for my 2 munchkins, plus my child tax credit of about £40 per month. I need to do a bit of playing with my figures, but i am well up for the challenge.
Michelle, x0
