I've started a money saving blog so thought I'd drop a message on here - I have been inspired by both this thread and Rhonda Jean's Down To Earth Blog. I am hoping to upload a new post every day so please do leave comments and let me know what you think so far!

DFW: The more modern 'morning after' remedies (is one of them called Resolve?) are (slightly) more palatable than alka-seltzer and I think they are more effective. If your liver has taken a hit, as can happen, it might take up to a day before it settles down again and the only way then is to fast on water until you start to feel normal, but let's hope it won't be that bad. Good luck.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

step AWAY from the takeaway menu..........I almost caved in and was going to get a pizza tonight.......but I've slapped myself around the face and I'm doing leftover sausage, veg and pasta from last night. OH was working so late he didn't have his, he just got straight into bed so his half went in the fridge. i'll bulk it out with a can of butter beans, garlic bread, some tortilla chips and sprinkle grated cheese over the top.
I wouldn't have thrown away the sausage and pasta, I was going to have it for lunch tomorrow but I've gt plenty of bits and pieces for lunch I can have instead."Stay Wonky":D

Dfw844 - I hope you managed to get through the day and are feeling better.
BB - Your meal sounds delish - beats take away pizza any day! :T
Bails - Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! :j
Sophiesmum - Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! :j
I finally finished sorting out the house today and as my lovely cleaning lady came today as well it now looks fabulous. Thanks to Bails who initially gave me the kick up the - hmm - back side - to get it done.
I did go to the vet today and it wasn't my regular one but it wasn't the gorgeous one either. It seems that my little piggy boy is really really poorly and there is not much that can be done. At the moment he is eating with gusto but the food doesn't get absorbed so he is losing alarmingly weight. I need to get a wee sample on Monday - that shall be interesting . I am hoping that the wee sample will tell the vet what it is and what can be done as then the next step would be very expensive blood tests that are not guaranteed to find the cause and even if the cause is found there are not many cures created for piggies. I have everything crossed. here. I can't help but have favourites amongst my piggies and my rats and he is definitely my favourite piggy.
I had my first mystery shop today and it was more difficult than I had expected. There were so many details to remember. But - it is done and I will have more confidence when I do my next one, which will be on Monday - I was going to do it today during the same trip but due to technical problems at my target I have to make a revisit.
Oh - I found another reason today why I need that smallholding. I met this wonderful Irish Wolfhound today and I really really want one. One day I will have big enough place to have one (and one labrador and one smooth collie and one mongrel and one...)
Wishing all of you a very relaxing Fridy evening.

I haven't dug up any garlic yet, but it does seem to help deter the nasty beasties when planted inside the pots of peppers. Must make mental note to dig up a garlic plant next week. I didn't plant rows of them, just one at the end of each row of potatoes. 'Big Jim' the pepper plant is doing well, he has at least 6 peppers on him already and no further beastie problems since planting garlic in beside him either.
Busy weekend ahead, but I'll try my best to keep up with the thread.
Have a good weekend and keep it frugal! :cool:I reserve the right not to spend.

Picked up 4 free pigs trotters today form my lovely butcher:D . I so love usuing a local butcher now, learning so much from him about cheaper cuts of meat. Also learning lots form everyone here. Realised curries are a good way to use up stuff and make the meat we do buy stretch a lot further. WE've never done curries before as we don't like hot spicy food, but are discovering there are lots of milder tasty curries out there.
Off to parents for long weekend so won't be around until Tuesday. Happy frugalling peeps.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Good evening frunchkins:D
DFW hope the hangover from hell has started to ease off:o
Marru, sorry about the piggy, the weightloss thing seems to have been going on a while now with him, not even going to ask how you are going to get a urine sample from a piggy:rolleyes:
Nyk - sounds like you have a very serious case of lecciemeteritis:rotfl: When you are filling the flasks, and getting hot water for dishes etc don't forget your frugal barbecues, there would always be enough residual heat left to boil a pan of water on the barbie.
Haven't been posting much during the week as have been really busy but everything has been ticking along nicely, have also managed the 5 a day each day too. Glad its the weekend as I have lots to do, my runner beans have been running amok this week so need to get out and pick and cook lots and get them in freezer. Also need to stake my pepper plants as they are getting very tall now. Hopefully will also get time to make some sausages and burgers.0 -
