Live on £4000 for a year - Part 3

Nyk, sounds like a lovely recipe. I find my Nan is just as difficult to get prezzies for, as she always says she doesn't need anything! Last birthday she got a handwash and shower gel set from Boots, that I'd bought in the Christmas sales using a survey voucher...
I'm going to confess to being about to spend lots of money. Newmarket races tomorrow, followed by Madness in concert. That's about £40 return petrol for the weekend, plus maybe £20 betting (I'll just assume I'll lose!), then a meal out with friends Saturday evening, plus collecting my car from MOT / service and paying loads for that.... At least using my car for wedding hire on Saturday will get me £100 back, might just cover the MOT and service cost. I really hope I don't get lost driving, it's been a while since I attempted to drive round Cambridge's one way system, and with the bride and groom in the back I will be so embarrassed if I can't find the punting company for their after wedding party!Live on £11k in 20110 -

I am soooooooooooooo jealous! Newmarket nights! Aaaaaarg... I miss them! I loved going there! I loved living there! That's where I used to work, too! (Not on the racetrack. :rotfl: ) Arg... Lynda, you MUST go early and take a drive along the Hamilton Road then go to the Orange House for tea. Oh the memories.... wanders off wistfully to boring free bingo, green with envy and longing to go back for a holiday ...

:rotfl: Grew up in Cambridge, ironically only discovered the fun of Newmarket nights after I left.... saw Madness last year as well, and Texas the year before that. Was hoping to get to The Feeling this year instead of Madness, but it was last Friday and clashed with cousin's wedding. As I decided to skip the wedding because of the distance, I couldn't really turn up in the area for a concert on the same evening.
Suspect I won't make it in time for the Orange House or anything, as I'm having to drive to Cambridge from Swindon tomorrow (in my second car that I drive rather slowly because we still haven't figured out why the engine claims to be permenantly overheating), then will have a lot of car polishing to do of my main car before Saturday's wedding! Unless I'm really lucky, and Dad polishes Betsy Belle before I get there!Live on £11k in 20110 -

Betsy Belle! Love it! Is that the little car in your avatar? My last car was named 'Pooh Bear' and the one before that was just plain old 'Sammy'. I don't even own a car now, but 'Pooh Bear' may still be down in Newmarket, as I left him behind when I had to come back up here.
If you had been about 300 miles further north, you could have done my DD's wedding next year! Oh, but I want to go to Newmarket now....... I'm trying to think of a way to save enough to get down in October for the 'Plate'. We were all going to ride in it one year and never got around to it! Sadly, I'd NEVER be able to do the weight now! This is so weird, I wonder why Newmarket has cropped up in 2 very different discussions today? Perhaps it's an omen!

Before I had DD while watching TV I thought that the adverts were pretty well targeted for me. Meaning that there were nappies etc advertised. After having DD something drastic had happened almost overnight as the programs I started then watching had adverts of adhesives for dentures in them. I am happy to say that now I have returned to somewhat normal and watching "programms for my age group".
But today something quite hilarious happened. I have been running up and down the stairs last three days as I have been sorting out books and other stuff in here. Also been going up and down with lots of heavy book boxes. Then phone rings and I run upstairs to get it and out of breath answer. This very pleasant man greets me and asks me politely how is it for me getting up and down the stairs? He was selling stair lifts. :rotfl:What is going on??? I did laugh and told him to call back in lets say 40 years.
I am gutted to have missed the chance of meeting this wonderful vet but as it happens I am going to see a vet tomorrow so lets hope that my regular one is on holiday.
I am also at the bingo tonight but am multitasking by writing to MSE, cleaning my animals, chatting in bingo and booking tickets. Only thing I haven't managed to do at the same time is cook supper so it shall be a midnight snack for me again I am afraid.
Have a great evening (what is left of it) everybody,
Marru
PS: sorry forgot to mention that it was a NSD and NCD for me today"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

This one's Betsy Belle, my everyday car and the car doing the wedding on Saturday!
This one is Brian, ex Devon and Cornwall panda car. Usually lives at my Dad's house, as I've only got one garage but can't bear to part with one of my 'fleet'!
Nyk, the way my job uncertainty is going at the moment, this time next year I might be 300 miles north!Live on £11k in 20110 -
Lynda that is brilliant! I would be so tempted to paint a panda car panda colours, though, then call it Chi Chi or something silly like that :rotfl: They would fit in well here, we get loads of Classic cars visiting as part of the classic car rally events. Mind you, we also get the kit cars, the motor bikes and, last week, it was moped weekend. The more I think about it, the more I believe that I live in a very strange place! :rotfl:
You know I actually watched someone trying to row a rubber dinghy across the bay one day?
You know my DS had to stop the car during a driving lesson to let a small aircraft land?
This place is crazy... you'd love it here! :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
