Is it possible to use the N95 as a 3g modem to enable me to video chat with my wife while she is away?

She has web & walk on her tarriff?

Thanks

yes, you can use video calling if both phones support it.

Alternatively and probably cheaper too, you can both hook up your phones as modems to your PC or laptop and then use a web cam each.

note that in theory with the basic web'n'walk you're not meant to use it as a modem - though not sure they can actually detect such usage (they can pick up on ports used for instant messaging, skype, etc. though)

i'm not clear on what you mean by using it as a 3G modem and then combining that with video calling - since the video calling uses the 3G network but not the web'n'walk part of it. Unless you've got some additional application installed?

that's fine... if they [t-mobile] are unhappy with the way you use your broadband i.e. using a cheaper tariff for voip they will let you know. I would just give it a go.

    Good luck.
  • I registered 2 old Nokia N95's on the Mazume website on a Thursday. I was quoted £105 for each phone as long as they were in working order (they would also buy broken ones for £50!!). They send you a freepost bag & a delivery note which needs to be included with the phones when sending. This arrived on Saturday morning...2 days! As my phones were worth a decent amount, I sent the phones Registered post on Monday. I had en email on Tuesday to say they had been delivered and on Wednesday morning an envelope enclsing a cheque for £210 was sitting on my door mat! One of the phones had a main key missing, but still worked fine and they still paid top whack for it.

All in all - within 6 days of registering my phone on the website, I had a cheque in my bank account! Mazuma kept me in touch the whole time and were brilliant to deal with. I highly recommend them to anyone. Kate
  • to use your phone as a modem you need to have wnw plus or max on your account as the 1gb fair usage policy isnt gonna be enough...
does my bum look big in this sig?
