Honestly I can understand why you are annoyed I was at there sales attitude. I genuinely think that they are just rolling out debit cards as a matter of course, they are certainly more convenient.
Probably CAB are noticing it as a younger person just thinks - cool debit card to the eldery it is more puzzling.
A&L is a good bank to be with if you use the post office to do your banking as you get free cash withdrawals, thats when the government finish closing post offices down.0 -
They tried it with me recently too c card not debit card tho. the woman was particularly evil. Asked me if i was currently working. I told her i was employed but on maternity leave and she started on the sales speil about how if I die then my kids will be landed with any debt i may have etc etc. I told her no less than 4 times that i have more that adequate insurance already. I eventually hung up on her after she asked if i had plans for more kids because 1 in a hundred women die in childbirth.
Thankfully i'm not easilly intimidated but at 39 weeks pregs no matter who you are you do not need told of such stats even if they are made up!!MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

Oh my god, I can't believe she said that:eek: don't believe that she's got that right either, perhaps that's counting 3rd world countries too where sadly they don't have the same health care.
She should know not to mess with a pregnant woman with all those hormones zooming around:pComping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

That is evil, not least because because your kids would not inherit your debt.
These beasts are asking us to insure them against any loss thy might make if our estate does not have enough money to pay the whole whack. With older folk this might be an issue, but not with babes like pixieIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I find it evil but for differing reasons I think.
Firstly i'm 27 so not exactly one foot in the grave so to speak.
Secondly as you say I am well aware that if anything did happen the debt would pass to my estate and not to a toddler/baby and if my estate was empty then its just tough its the company that would carry the loss.
Thirdly Many of these policys have a 'you must be insured for x months' clase so even if i did agree and the worse did happen then they would no doubt wriggle out of paying on either time scale or pre existing condition.
Fourthly the statistic she quoted was quite frankly !!!!!!!!.
My take on the matter and the reason why I personally have complained to A&L and will be to the ombudsman is not that she worried me because well she didn't but more that she used terminology and phrases that were not only innacurate but also to deliberatly to try and malke someone opt for cover that was unusable/unneeded simply I presume to earn them some commision.
How many others have fallen victim to this sort of underhand tactics in the name of company profit!!MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
This reminds me of an offer I received years ago for £10Ks worth of accidental death cover, free. Now I know I am/was very unlikely to die of an accident given my gender, age and lifestyle, although i nearly killed myself by accident once, but I took it as it was free from the bank.
Next job, they are trying to persuade me to take all sorts of extra income, life, critical illness cover. Took them two years to get it through their skulls that I was not going to bite. They stopped when I pointed out that I would be thick not to take it for free but that as a marketing ploy it was useless.
I actually studied statistics and was able to tear huge holes in their data. They would quote the number of deaths from all causes for adults aged 18-65 and the number per thousand, then start talking about the value of insurance against accidental death, when accidental death is the least common cause.
Anyway, enough of a rant, we are getting away from jacks and Pixie's situation.
Pixie, I hope your nail them, Jacks as well.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
