Help with message service centre-have number.

Hi,

Have looked through the replies from others that have needed help but I still can't work it out.

I have a Nokia 6111 - I am on a contract with o2.

2 days ago the phone stopped me sending texts and kept saying something about a message centre number. I typed in 1234 (for some odd reason) but of course it wasn't the correct number.

I now have the correct number to type in (starts with 4478.......) but no matter where I look on my phone I can't find where to type it in.

Any help would be appreciated as I need my phone for work.

Thanks xx.

  • It should be in your messaging settings. So you need to go into the message menu.

I would tell you exactly where but I have a Sony :) x
  • On my message settings I have general settings, tesxt messages, multimedia msgs and email messages. Nothing I seem to do works or even allows me to type a code in.
  • It should be general messaging, what options have you got once you go into those menus x
  • I've got save sent messages (currently on yes)
Overwriting in sent items (says not allowed)
    Font size (Says normal)
    Graphical Smileys (yes)
    Save sent messages (yes)

Don't know if you have just omitted it from you post, but the number needs to start +44780xxxxx

On most older Nokias there should be a message profile or default profile in the message settings menu. Its in that profile menu that the MSC number should be entered.

  • Could someone - if it's not too much trouble:heart2: lead me through it step by step please?

I've tried everything and can't seem to find a place where the code will be accepted.

It's under text messages, not general messages.

    Menu > Messaging> Message settings> Text messages

Then Message centres, edit the number and ensure it's set as the one that's in use.
  • Got as far as message centres - it says select underneath but when I press select nothing happens. If I go down 1 it says message centre in use - if I select this it says no message centre defined.

    Again, thanks for any help.
