Help wanted choosing a present for a 9 year old boy

I need to buy my cousin a present but don't know what to get.

I'd like to get something educational & fun.

i was in toys-r-us at the weekend.... they have some kits for 'grow your own animals'....... sea monkeys (not sure they where called sea), shrimps
you put some water in the plastic container add the eggs/seeds and watch them grow, feed them daily

triops only live for 90 days...... the boxes i saw say they live for 2 years......

oh right ... our triop ate the others, lived to about 40 days then died. i was upset but my 8 year old was fine about it lol! i think it's a good present for a 9 year old.

my boys had a game called 20Q last xmas it is about £10 and was really good and fits in your pocket
