    OK - here's my update !

I went to the session with an open mind. The guy spent about an hour and a half just talking, asking me what my problem was and talking about different therapies. He then asked me to think about my comfort eating and how I felt when I was eating and how I felt afterwards. He then asked me how I felt about body image and shopping for clothes. To be honest, at that point, I really wanted to just walk out of the room as I felt I was getting upset.

He then did a small session where I shut my eyes and he spoke. To be honest, I can't really remember what he said but we discussed it afterwards.

We then talked about the hypnotherapy - he explained that it wasn't like you saw on the tv - I wouldn't get the "You are feeling very sleepy" and he made sure I felt comfortable.

Then came the hypnotherapy session. I was feeling aprehensive by that point that really thought it wasn't going to work. I had to relax in a big leather seat and was told to shut my eyes and just to listen to his voice. To be honest - I didn't think it was working for me at all - my head kept wandering off, however, when he asked me to open my eyes, he asked me how long I thought he'd spoken. I said about 5 mins - it was actually 33 mins so it was working. I couldn't for the life of me remember what he'd said though.

He's sent me off with a disk which I've to listen to on Sunday but not while I'm driving or operating machinery.

The big question is do I feel hungry and the answer is No. Not sure whether or not it's the hypnotherapy or the session he did before where we discussed that I'm responsible for my own behaviours and I have a choice whether or not I want that chocolate biccy.

    Will keep you informed !

Ha thats not what I do. I first discuss the problem and how it affects you. I also ask you to give me a figure on a scale of 10 as to how bad the problem is. Then we do one or two things that should help and at each session reassess the figure to ensure things are going the right way. Sometimes one doesnt even need hypnosis just to be given a new way of thinking and problem solving.

Just read your thread and it's coming back to me - that's exactly what he did. Now if only I can remember the questions he asked !

OK - the start of day 2. Normally I would wake up tired and ready to reach for sugar. Have woken up after a brilliant nights sleep, feeling refreshed and not hungry. Am about to have my porridge though. Last night I would have normally grazed on chocolate and crisps and went for fruit instead.

Not sure whether or not it's the hypnotherapy or the chat that we had before when he mentioned I had choices about what I ate. This may sound really simple for some people but for me it was always easier to reach for the wrong food as rewards.

    Will keep you updated.

Hi, It's £80 per session then after 3 sessions, it drops to £60. He did say he didn't think I'd need more than 3 though.

I'd thought about it for a long time. Then I watched the programme on Channel 4 where they get someone obese and someone bordering on anorexia eating each others food and then during this there was a woman who was trying lots of different weightloss treatments. She tried hypnosis - here's the link http://www.channel4.com/health/microsites/S/supersize_superskinny/extreme_diets_6.html and I was just interested to see if it would work.

  • I found some info on youtube where Matt Damon talks about hypnotherapy in a very positive manner and it helped him. There is also some useful free info at www.weightlossbyhypnosis.co.uk . Lots of useful info on this forum.
