i had hypnosis for fear of flying and I think it worked. Or at least I just don't like it now (which is a reasonable response to how horrible airports etc are) rather than being terrified by it. And am even considering a trip to the US which I would never have been able to countenance before. I think it is worth doing. But I'd say go into it with a positive attitude, I think this will really help....let us know how it goes and good luck.0

Hypnosis is an enjoyable experience. Some people dont let themselves relax because they dont like giving away control but a therapist will not have you dancing like a chicken because you will be aware and you cannot breach your morals or standards.
Not only go for it but enjoy it aswellWho I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
I'm looking forward to it but obviously a bit apprehensive as well ! If it stops me shovelling chocolate and rubbish down my face without realising I'm doing it then it will be well worth the money !So little money - so much time :mad:0

Do you think it could help with problems like depression?

Hypnosis is often given a bad name by stage hypnosis which is slightly different in that it is an illusion of power over the person. However we can always use NLP or CBT or CMT or a combination and the client wouldnt have a clue what one was using really anyway. The boundaries are very blurry. Depression is the brains protection mechanism against something it doesnt like. People dont like hearing this but as far as your brain is concerned depression is either giving you some benefit or protecting you from something worse. Put another way depression is the damage not the defect so we have to find the defect which hypnosis can be very useful for.
Your concious mind may have no idea what depression is protecting you from but subconcious mind does and if we can find that we can take away the need for the depression.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
hi,
I'm in Preston.
How would I go about researching it properly and finding someone reputable? I know they say that its not possible to have you doing silly things etc but I still worry I could be taken advantage of by a therapist in some way. I get the Psychologist magazine and there's always a page or so of disciplineries in there so I really think its inportant to get someone reputable.

LOL:rotfl::rotfl: I didnt really mean in a really obvious way! I had a counsellor last year who I constantly fell out with, she insisted that Every single session I had to justify why I was there - it took me a long time to seek help at all never mind some old witch telling me that since I could manage a lot of daily tasks that I MUST be fine. Supposably these people are neutral and dont try to put their own opinions etc on you but its not what I found here.
