I've got another bathroom company coming round tomorrow evening so I'll see what they come up with.
I received the written quote in the post this morning after ringing up just the once, last Friday. Is 4 weeks for a quote reasonable?
Anyway, the quote for my wetroom from this plumber is... wait for it... £8,884.54! The bathroom is 7ft x 6ft with a ceiling height of 8ft and an airing cupboard in one corner.
I've actually invited Dolphin around while the half-price sale is on but I'm sure it won't be any cheaper.
Any N.E. Lincolnshire bathroom (wetroom) fitters out there care to quote me London Prices?(see above posts!)
Does any London bathroom (wetroom) fitters fancy giving me a London quote and I'll pay for a week in a B&B in Cleethorpes?????DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Keep getting the quotes in and hopefully you'll find a suitable one soon!

I decided to make an appointment with Dolphin, just for curosity I guess. I'm not easily persuaded and I know they are expensive but I just wanted to see. Watch this space!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

It is very fair price as for London, but could be some extra depending of the counsil (skip, parking, congestion)
Nearly there - just the finishing touches to go. Should have a bathroom tomorrow!
All debris removal etc is already included. There will be a bit extra for parking (outside the congestion robbery zone though). However, fitter has indicated that the overall cost is going to be lower than the original quote (didn't need earthing of electric points and a couple of other bits turned out easier than expected). How good is that?
We're intending to heavily round up any final price he gives to show our appreciation. He's done a fantastic job, been flexible and made all sorts of suggestions to improve the bathroom. A good (and honest) workman is hard to find...
Socks_uk: Hope you find a decent local tradesman soon. Have you tried asking neighbours? Alternatively if you've had any other work done by a different tradesman then they might be able to recomend someone (e.g. our bathroom fitter recomended the guy who fitted our boiler and we were pleased with their work too).
My gf used Dolphin in her last place. They actually did a reasonable job in a fairly short space of time. It wasn't cheap for what they did but sounds cheaper than your existing quotes! One thing she found though - the standard acrylic bath they recomended was rubbish. Bent and flexed when you stood in it. I realise that this could be partly due to poor setting up of the frame/feet but the plastic was still very thin. Go for a reinforced or steel bath if they have them.0 -

Thanks for the tip WobblyGoblin...
I've asked my friends and work colleagues and that's how I got the only guy I seem to trust but he's still expensive in my eye (£7500). I do have a little bit of hope... I did have the decorator in yesterday to wallpaper the living room ceiling (£60 for the 3m x 4m ceiling - looks lovely!) and his nephew does bathrooms. I've asked the decorator to pass on my name and number to him.
No bath needed as we only have a 6ft x 7ft (183cm x 214cm) bathroom and we wanted the 'spacious, uncluttered look' of a wetroom.
The new toilet/basin (Rainwood bow fronted cupboard in maple colour) came yesterday from an ebay shop called e-bathe. It's about £900 in [TC] Traditional Contempory brochure but cost me £385 including delivery. I would highly recommend them for customer service and extremely fast delivery although I haven't opened the boxes yet. I ordered over the phone Thursday, delivered Friday (yesterday).
Thanks to Canucklehead who is helping me with items to buy such as makes of showers ect. I have learnt to realise I need to buy the items and get the plumber to fit them.
Thanks again everyone.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Well, after listening to plenty of advice, The work on our bathroom (Wetroom) is due to start on Monday.
Thanks to Canucklehead, I chose to buy all the 'bits & pieces', toilet & basin, shower, shower screen, tap, radiator, tiles' etc. myself (with help from the guy fitting it. He is charging me £3311.81 to do the job and his price includes him supplying the lights/shower fan & light, and also supplying the 'tanking' as he describes it. Can't remember if he's using 'Impey' or 'Weede board' (can't spell it!).
It has taken 9, yes 9! visits from different plumbers/ bathroom specialists/ builders (who do bathrooms) to find someone who, not only can we afford, but that we trust to do a good job. We've already given him a key as we start work early - 7.30am.
If we can get through this next week without running to our local 24 hour TESCO for the loo in the middle of the night I'll be happy!
