Presumably if such an 0845 number does exist, it will go to a branch based on the area code of the (landline) phone you are calling from. This may or not may be the branch you want to call. What happens with mobiles?

Incidentally, I can't think of any query that is better handled at the branch rather than a call centre. Except, perhaps, 'I left my purse on the counter this morning. Did anyone hand it in?'

Ill call from my office, which incidentally has had a phone system (for the last six years) just like the Barclays has just introduced, where when a client calls us someone picks it up and speaks to them!!! Fantastic.:cool:

If you want the branch that bad, then go in! it is a "walk in service", call centre are there to help, they can book appointment for you;)
