Be patient with me guys as im not great with technology
Im due to rent soon and will want to install the internet in my new place. Theres a BT landline in the flat, will i have any problems if i want to sign up with a different internet? Will it go through the BT line? Also, will this be the same for the phone?
Thanks

If you have a BT line you can basically shop around through all the providers available (obviously, other than Virgin cable).
If you look at all ads for broadband, they invariably say "BT line required".====0 -
entanet resellers (adsl24, vivaciti, ukfsn etc.) offer 1 month contracts, but they do charge connectionUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

There's no reason to let BT know you are installing internet if it's the first time and you are not in a contract.
If you choose a combined telephone/internet package, some companies (Talk Talk etc) take over your line rental as well. You should decide if you want to do that or not. (I don't)
If you stayed with BT for line rental only you can get evenings and weekend calls free (on a rolling 12 month line rental contract), and pay your internet to another company.
If you have an O2 mobile I would seriously consider looking at their internet on top of that BT line rental offer and Bethere.co.uk if you aren't with O2. (and you can get £40 for signing up via quidco)0 -
have you looked at this http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/ might be another idea for youBankrupt on the 19th feb 2007

Thanks for the replies guys,
I have spoken to the Letting Agent and their is a BT Landline but it is not connected, so it would cost me £125 to connect this. I guess my other option is to go with Mobile broadband so i dont have to pay a connection fee.
3 seem to be cheaper than 02 for 3GB. Im worried 3GB wont be enough, if i download music, videos, etc how quickly will i eat into the 3GB?0 -
