are these survey sites worth it?(merged)

I was a member of Toluna earlier this year - but I resigned fairly quickly after discovering how badly they paid, not to mention they don't seem to target their surveys at all (which was REALLY annoying after completing all those profiling surveys!) so I ended up attempting loads and hardly ever being accepted.
Whilst Ciao aren't good they do at least pay you within a few weeks of a request, I've heard a lot of people complain about Toluna and payments, I'm glad I left so early.2020 Wins:

I'm still waiting for a £10 Amazon voucher which I claimed at the beginning of October 2009 with toluna, it still says N/A in the voucher available when bit of my rewards. Amazon vouchers are sent instantly from other survey sites by email so this is way beyond a joke

I am still waiting for one ordered at the same time as yours although mine along with others had an estimated delivery date of 8/12/2009!, they take longer to send e-vouchers than the physical ones-sadly they no longer offer sainsburys vouchers as a choice.
They have also raised the redemption level and reduced the value of the points, instead of 60,000 for a £10 Amazon Voucher you now need 80,000 to get a £12 voucher (should be £13.33 if the points had kept the same value).
Some sites have a £50 minimum redemption so I suppose they could be worse.0 -
are a conundrum martin lewis says dont bother and ive stopped using them but the money i made from surveys has suffered because although it taked maybe about 2/3 months for a ten pound amazon voucher its still worth it over time especially if some of the other sites are paying less or nothing at all the uk and us sites seem to be hit the hardest .toluna are french i think and as the eurozone is out of recession just it should mean that the best earners will be from europe pincone in your opinion and this one they still have market research even at times like this.So i think i might go back to toluna its just not that bad amazon vouchers are so useful anyway. All the other options unless its love to shop forget it! cheers sam!0

Basically you scan all the shopping you buy with a barcode scanner which has a base to hold it.
The base is connected to both the mains and your telephone line, the information you scanned in is collected once a week via the phone line(free) you then build up points which can be exchanged from a choice in their catalogue. How do you sign up?

You leave out many issues:
ToLuna just don't have good customer service, their actions are at best, disrespectful of peoples time and honesty. They make a joke out of the site and whomever takes part in it.
The vouchers, -are a joke! The fact that they are French is a lame excuse- Global Test Market are American: far further away and yet they deliver with a faster speed then ToLuna- not to mention, when they say it takes 6-8 weeks, it takes 6-8 weeks. You don't get an email or date saying "expect this on X date" and then find out its a further 6 months on that date! I ordered my vouchers from ToLuna and in the past Amazon voucher have taken 3 months despite a date of 6 weeks from my actual order date being given. This time I ordered Love2Shop vouchers. Early October. No date yet. I may remind you this has now been 12 weeks. And then theres the fact I'll get given a date which will be a further 8 weeks additional to the 3 months I've waited IF they get their act together and actually send out the vouchers!
The points: now here is something you missed and I'm very suprized you didn't pick this one up: only some of your survey points ever get added to your account. Yup, thats right, you will do many surveys, and many of those will never be credited to your account. Others have kept tabs then spent a great many frustrating emails to and from ToLuna attempting to get them back. Now name another site (besides Ciao!) where you give your time and honesty to for-fill a survey and then have to fight for the 2p or whatever credit to be added to your account! Again, more disrespect.
Then there the points system. This is just bizarre- why don't they tell you how much money they're going to be paying you rather then warp the data into some unbelievable number? well, then you'd actually see how much your getting paid for your 40 minutes of time: about 4p.
And then there are the many surveys you take that stop 25 minutes in and tell you "sorry we have sufficient participants" and refuse to pay you.
Don't forget that sometimes surveys get sent to several survey companies for you to fill. If you fill that survey from ToLuna, get paid your 8p for it, and then get the same survey from Valued Opinions offering 50p, the survey may tell you you don't qualify the second time with Valued Opinions and so you lose the chance to get 50p and as far as ToLuna go, may end up fighting for that 8p anyway!
In a nutshell, Martin Lewis was right. I hope you don't expect too much from ToLuna as there are far more surveys which are miles better and pay better.0 -

Scanning does not take long once you get the hang of it.
There are loads of items you can get with the points you earn, small items can be earned in around 4 months rising through to about 14 years for a Gucci mens watch.
Unexpected plus side for me was by taking more notice of supermarket receipts I have spotted several occasions when I have been overcharged.0
