My mum died last year and we found an old PO book of hers with 3 old pence, from 1950. WE had to send it away to cash it. They wanted copies of death certif and will before they paid out. Grand sum of 7p.
We had to share it between 7 of us.

  • Hi,

They won't just give you the money. It needs to be sent to Glasgow as they said to have the interest added on and a cheque issued.

hi people, good news! just found a really old post office book in my name with 240 pound in it! cracking stuff haha. my mum said she fought i still had some cash in there but had lost the book ages ago. the last intrest added to the account was in 1992, how much intrest would have accumalated over 12 years out of intrest, i know im not gonna retire but would be intresting to know!.

Also would i be able to walk into a post office with this book and a passport and driving licence and get the cash? just intrested as my mum recons it will have to be sent of to there head office to be checked?

just after some quick answers really. know it seems alot but we have been strugling alot latley and this little bonus would come in handy!
