Unlikely to get a lot of money. Just don't get excited. My mum found a book with around £100 in with Halifax which was last dated before 1990's, yet they wouldn't payout and said they had no record of the account.

    However, good luck!

Grab a envelope from the post office, if you want the cash you can request to close the account, interest will be added and then a cheque issued.

If you just want the interest added, just send the book off with a note of your address in case it has changed over the years.

I imagine the interest rate would be pretty minimal, so I'd guess it would be worth something between £300 & £400.

  • Hi,

I also had one of these accounts, I think I had a little less than you but got around £100 in interest. The book had to be sent away. They added the interest and then sent me a cheques within about 2 weeks I think.
