Hi,
Basically i am gonna be living with 2 of my friends in a new flat from next week. We need to sort out tv and internet stuff and wondering what to do. Firstly, will we have to pay to set up a landline with BT? (I am not sure if one already exists or not, will find out when we pick up the keys next week - if one does will there be any set up charges?).
Then assuming the landline is in place, what will be the best package? Ideally we would like the best combination of tv/internet/phone package in a bundle, to help reduce costs.
Also, hope this has been posted in the right forum?
Thanks,
Rich.

Do you need a landline? If not and Virgin do broadband (cable) in your area you can get that without the phone line - saves a bit.0

I'd go with Virgin as it is simple and cheap. There is £100.00 cashback through Quidco at the moment if you get the right package0

I probably will go with virgin, just wondering though what is Quidco, i have never heard of it before?
Just went on their website and I dont quite understand how it all works?

Only thing with virgin is 12 month contract. So if you house is only 11 months or whatever you have to fork out the extra month even when not there.
However my house I am moving into the previous tennats are trying to haggle a deal so we can take over from them, so who knows.0 -
No its a 12 month contract anyway so that wouldn't be an issue.
So on the quidco website, clicked on the virgin offer, and it just directs me to the normal virgin website, so how do u get the 100pound cashback?

sign up to quidco.com
click on the virgin media link
and wait a few months to get the £100 from quidco0 -
ok that's cool but how does it actually work, do virgin media send my details over to quidco?0

quidco use a tracking cookie so make sure you clear your cookies before doing it0

I've been living as a student with 3 other students in rented accommodation and we went with Virgin and have been very happy. We got digital TV (the most basic package they do, but including catch-up TV/on-demand), a landline with free weekend calls (no need for a BT landline and therefore no line rental to pay) plus unlimited broadband for around £20. I think it was a deal they had at the time called '3 for £20' deal or something. It was about a year ago. I've just checked online and they are doing some other good deals if you get broadband with the phone, and you save money if you sign up online.
Another thing worth bearing in mind is the saving your friends/family might make by the fact this would give you a landline which might be cheaper for them to call.
The customer service is excellent in my experience, which is another thing worth bearing in mind.0 -

I personally found it to be appalling. They didn't fit the internet properly in the first place, not protecting the cable outside which meant some drunken person ripped it out of the wall. It then took a week for them to fix, they told me I didnt have to be in, so I went out and they refused to fix it....
Apart from that it is your best bet0
