206 - will be flimsy
Punto - will be full of faults
Clio - actually is probably the best bet
KA - will have a dry engine Will also be full of rot!
Corsa - if its a 1.0 avoid, avoid, avoid. Timing chains and oil starvation!
The KA will be mosre fun to drive, but has that awful 1.3 engine. Clio makes more sense cos Renault's have decent spec. Even base ones.
Agree^ personally Id go for a 1.25 Fiesta, their engines go on and on (stay away from the 1.3 as mentioned for the KA by someone else)and are quite nippy too.0 -
The Skoda Fabia 1.4 is a great little car. Comfortable, surprisingly roomy, good drive, economical and ultra-reliable. The missus has had hers for four years and won't part with it. I much prefer driving it to the family bus (Vauxhall Zafira).
The only "problem" with Skoda is that enough people have caught on to the brand that they are no longer the fantastic bargain they were a few years ago but still decent cars at decent prices.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
The Skoda Fabia - had a ride again this weekend in my sister in laws 1.4 Classic today valued at under £1700. I have immense admiration for this little car, OK it's a bit plain Jane but in 60,000 miles it's had one replacement set of tyres and... and... er.... some oil changes and other routine servicing, a bit of washer bottle fluid, I've even washed it for here a couple of times. She has had it from new, 51 plate with refinement and ride which is so much better than you would expect from a car this size and price.
My mother in law has an 02 reg 1.4 16v auto, also on about 60,000 miles with an identical ownership history.
They even hold their own pretty well on the motorway too.0 -
I have a Ford Ka, and they're cheap, reliable, cheap service/MOT (and if it does need anything, parts are cheap), good MPG, and easy to drive. Bear in mind I have the basic model, so not too much to go wrong!! Survived a rear impact pretty well too!!
My bro has a clio, which has been nothing but trouble, and costing him a fortune in repairs!!
I also had a fiesta which was great! I'd go for an older model with less milage than a newer model with 60k miles!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
The Micra is no longer Japanese, it is built with French parts. Poor quality, and nothing compared to Honda, Toyota or other quality Japanese brands. Sure they cost 20- 30% more to buy, but they are built to last, and you'll get that money back.0
