Hi. I may be getting a new computer and it seems they all come with vista. However, some of my software won't be compatible with it so I would want to install Win XP. Is it OK to install it using the same serial as my current computer or would I have to buy a new version? Where do I find out the serial to enter when installing? I remember when I got this computer that it checked to see if it was a genuine copy of Win XP online - therefore, if I install on it the new computer, will it be accepted?
thanks.
thanks.

you can only install on 1 PC
key should be on your sticker on the case or in the box with the cd
otherwise use this to find it

What software is allegedly incompatible? I've yet to find any. Even old DOS programmes can be made to work with a little fiddling.0

sounds like there may not compatibility issues afterall then. I was under the impression that some software didn't work - i'd be installing virtual instruments0 -

Some software didn't initially but there were usually patches for Vista on the software authors website. A raft of compatibility updates from Microsoft via Windows Update sorted out a list of others.0 -
does IE 6.0 work with Vista?0

If your copy of Windows XP came with your old computer, you will be unable to install it on another.0
