Registering a Death

Sorry for the low tone but can anyone tell me if you need a birth certificate to register the death?

No, just the death certificate. But the registrar will ask you where the person was born, their age, address, and their occupation (or former occupation if retired)
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

Oh I know what you mean, it is always frustrating when the 'offices' aren't opening!

Have you got the Cert of Death from Drs?

No. all of the above posts are correct. you don't need a birth certificate to register a death.

A couple of points (practical and boring)

I live on the wirral, so i know these happen here

you need to book an appointment with the registrar.

You get the original certificate free then they are £2.50ish then but if you want more later they are far more expensive.

Depending on who the certificate is for you might need more for banking and probate stuff,

The registrars are extremely helpful giving you information and forms as well, for social security perpouses, and changing/stopping mail.

I hope that it goes well, any other questions ask.....

i hope that someone is going with you don't go alone.....
