its against the law for a manufacturerer to have a retail price list.
I've seen some odd things written on this forum but that's a belter.
What law is it against for a manufacturer to have a retial price list?
How on earth do you think most retailers set their prices?0 -
ON VICTORIAN FLOORS
I fix both Original Style and the Winckelmans. The price difference is pennies. Original Style have the edge on quality
ON OTHER TILES & MOSAICS
Original Style Mosaic is one of the biggest ranges of mosaic you will find.0 -
Victorian Floor Tiles ... Original Style - yes in regard to the design of the handdecorated tiles, they have a good Designer and a small dedicated team of workers to do the printing - no in regard to the tiles themselves, there is nothing british in at all, produced in France by Winckelman is fact, then brought to England and sold arround the world... High transport costs contribute to the high price... The handprinted ones are beautiful and made by them, and the range is the biggest in the tile world... Make sure to buy all in one go, they have many problems with the colour of different batches, we had with one of my customers serious problems to get a matching colour delivered for an extension in their hallway0

You know Cracks when I see a 3½ year old thread being ressurected and the person ressurrecting it uses expressions like "we had with one of my customers serious problems" then I suspect Spam but as you are a newbie I'm being nice.

That's why it's called a Recommended Retail Price or RRP.
No one is allowed to "set" prices and no one does, so the retail price is always the RRP which is "suggested" by the manufacturer.
Except Diamonds of course, that entire industry is a monopoly set almost exclusively by a single company (De Beers) , they dictate price internationally.
A manufacturer also reserves the right to withdraw retailer status if the retailer in question sells at a level below which they have been advised. See Levi Jeans and Tesco, Ping Golf clubs etc etc
Ping are so strict on who sells what and the price level set that they will not allow online sales through any retailer they they supply, at least not on an ecommerce basis.
You've read the law and taken it too literally, it's designed to stop price fixing and monopolies, however, every manufacturer in the world as a retail price point or RRP which is published and "suggested" to the retailer.0
