4 Weeks ago i had to contact the BT broadband help line as i wanted the anti norton virus downloaded and my installation disc was damaged,so i spoke to a female in an indian call centre who after one hour decided she couldn't help me,then i spoke to a man who after moving the mouse around the screen a few hundred times and going in and out of applications then went into my hard drive and deleted everything!! I asked him what he was doing to which he replied i am sorry i can no longer help you, your computer doesn't work .My computer was perfectly ok before this, now i have bought another one as my one wrecked by BT helpline has no applications left on it,i have wrote to BT and complained but have not got any response ,what is my next move and i am i right in thinking i have a claim against them for a new PC or a repair.

Ouch,
Here are my 2 cents.
I've worked for BT in the past and this is your best route to take if you want to get something done. If you're not happy go up the chain, don't give up and call back. If you're not happy with the supervisor/manager, continue going up. Request their manager. If they say the manager is not available simply request the tier above them. Everyone in BT has access to what's called the BT directory so they can always find an equivalent person to deal with the situation. If you're are looking for a reference as well as their name request their EIN. Everyone has one, it's a unique number tied to that person. BT is a massive company, there are lots of people with the same name and it can be quite difficult find the correct John Smith that you spoke to
Soon as you begin the trail up the chain of management you'll shortly be speaking to someone in the UK.
Why did you allow them to remotely access your machine? You only have your word on what happened. BT won't do nothing unless you've got solid proof.
Seriously. Ditch Norton and go grab AVG anti virus. It's free, easy and accessible. I could easily write a 10,000 word essay breaking down why Norton is such a poor product. It really is that awful.
