Automatic direct debit for minimum payment

If I have to setup a payment from my *current account*, how many days before the payment is due on the card shall the payment be executed?

I must be a cautious gal, StarX, because I set up an electronic payment from my current a/c (to my cc) for the day after payday :-[. This date can be 2 or 3 weeks before the cc due date.

In this way I feel that I minimise interest charges - when I have a cc balance that I can't pay off fully each month - and obviously I don't run any risk of incurring a late payment fee .

However, if you don't want to use too much of your pay immediately after payday you could always just pay the equivalent of the minimum payment early.

My Barclaycard statement has a 'Pay at a bank by' date. When I get my statement I log into my internet banking current account (with Lloyds TSB) and make a future dated payment for that date. It's never failed yet ::)
