Is it just me or does my bumper look like a completely different shade to the main body of the car. I have had a look at the bumper and can see that it has been resprayed..but the question is have they done a good job?

Had the strips colour coded but when I look at the rear bumper it just doesn't look right:mad:

There are a couple of shades of moondust on the go (my doors are a subtle different colour to the bodyshell and that is from the factory) but that is well wrong.

Looks like you agree....don't want to spend a huge amount to get it fixed but I am not sure if I should get it resprayed or to get a pre-primed new bumper and ask them to spray and fit it....

I would like to spend no more than £150 tops...hmmm

P.S as far as I can tell there is no cosmetic damage on the rear bumper...just a s*it paint job!

i used to work in bodyshops for the past 16 yrs

£150 should get you a reasonble spray job...are you handy at diy? if so removing the bumper would save at least an hrs labour and make it easy job for them to slip in

you might be able to see whats what when you take it off...could be evidence of a crack repair or it might be a second hand one that was the wrong colour

Well when I got my side strips done the guy from the bodyshop said that the bumper had been resprayed because you can clearly see the sanding marks there. They just did not get the colour match right.

Would the bumper need to be taken off ? Can they not spray it with the bumper attached and cover the entire car.

I believe thats how they did my side strips and they have done a brilliant job on them. The paint match is perfect!

id take it off if i was doing it so the edges can be fully sanded and painted in full

I know its a lot of money to spend on getting the paint to match but after spending hours cleaning, polishing and waxing it then seeing the bumper is a different colour to the car it just bugs me :rotfl:

Anyway I will give the bodyshop a ring and see what they say.

And thanks everyone for confirming that the respray is pants!:money:

If this was an insurance job I'd try make a big hassle with the insurers.

If the place that did it is respectable, they should be happy to re-do either FOC or at most at cost, as they will not want their good business image damaged.

Here's a thread I have read of someone having a similar experience http://briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/b-p-rolls-andover-don-t-go-there/95289/
