Try plenty of "slow release" foods, such as brown pasta and rice, porridge for breakfast, that type of thing, to try and keep her going.

Hi Searching_me, have you discussed this with your family doctor and what did they say? It could just be being bored, thirsty as others have said above or perhaps she just has a great appetite.

It wouldnt' hurt to discuss with your family doctor however, they might be able to do a few tests - even just to put your mind at ease.

sounds a good enough diet then, but as she is only 5 i wouldnt emphasise too much on the eating, is she fixated a lot on food then? as that young an age she shouldnt be really, is she is eating a good meal 3x a day then she doesnt really need anything inbetween

my son has his breakfast, lunch and tea, then has a snack at 10.30, 2.30 and 6pm, this is cause he needs to regulate his sugars, so your child doesnt really need to eat too much between meals

if she is eating a mainmeal then getting hungry again 30 mins later then i would start saying no, to wait for a snack in a couple of hours etc or wait for next meal

or it could be just a phase if she has had a growth spurt, which does sound as if she has

hope it gets better shortly for you

    Is she obese?

There is a medical condition called Prader Willies disease and the kids will eat everything - even chew through the cupboard doors to get food!

I am sure this isn't your Daughter.. but it is an interesting illness..

.. the people just never know that they are full.

My 7 year old is the exact same...hollow legs....wouldn't worry about it unless your child puts on weight easily then thats slightly different.

Sorry just saw whats she weighs...I swear you have nothing to worry about....I think it normal, just keep giving her healthy things...

    good luck xxx
You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
    You just keep on walking
  • my youngest son is like this & always has been - there's not an ounce of fat on him but he is always on the go - he's 14, 6'1" & a nightmare getting trousers to fit as he's only a 28" waist but a 34" leg - I'm sure he came out of the womb saying "I'm stAAAAAArving" which is all I get from him when he comes in from school

but I've stuck to my rule of only 1 bag of crisps & 1 choc bar a day (unlike some of their friends) I don't buy biscuits, & they fill up on fruit, toast or cereal if they can't wait

it's perfectly normal, my niece was the same as your girl but a bit heftier - she's now a 5'10" size 12, 17 year old (I hate her!)
