Hi my son received his x box two weeks ago for his birthday and this morning his game crashed and the red lights came on. Is this serious? and if it is what do we do about it. He hasnt played it since as he has gone to stay with a friend till tomorrow, but as it was nearly 2 hundred quid I'm concerned.
Thanks for reading

Its possible. Make sure its not sat on carpet, nothing is sat on top of it and there's plenty of ventilation around it. If it does it again, take it back to the shop. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM WHEN THEY SAY YOU HAVE TO SEND IT BACK TO MICROSOFT. Your contract is with the shop, not MS.0 -
Thanks for all the advice, its as well ventilated as it can be in a teenage boys bedroom! sat on a wooden desk with nothing on top or beside it. I will need to await his return tomorrow now for him to give it another go. If there are further problems, I may consult you kind people again.
Thanks again Elmer0 -
check the video lead - if its loose you get red lights0

hi
elmer. it could be a well known fault with the x box, re overheating and there is a microsoft modification needed, google the fault and see all the responces, or ring microsoft if the problem persists, as i speak my sons x box is winging its way to germany, collection paid for and arramged by microsoft and being fixed and sent back f.o.c (hopefully!). but like conor said first stop should be the shop, but forwarned is for armed!
cheers dean.mIf i dont do it someone else will!0 -

DO NOT, under any circumstances, block the ventilation ports on your Xbox.0 -
Well all i can say is that it worked for me and is on the web as loads of people are doing it and it is working. Obviously you should keep an eye on it and not leave it unattended  .
Just a SUGGESTION for those who want to try it.0
