    Hi, I posted my strawberry muffin recipe on the June GC, Can't do the Link thing, (if anyone can explain please, I would be grateful) so here it is again;

    280g Plain flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    100g white sugar
    1 egg
    240ml milk
    85g butter, melted
140g strawberries cut into pieces (or Blueberries / raspberries)

    1. In a large bowl sift together flour, baking powder & salt, stir in sugar. Leave to one side.
    2. Beat egg in another bowl, stir in milk, then melted butter.
    3. Pour wet ingreditents into dry, stir until just combined. Gently fold in berries careful not to crush fruit.
    4. Spoon into muffin cases / tray. Bake for 20-25 mins. Muffins are done when tops are lightly browned and spring back when pressed gently.

    HTH

Oops, should have read to the end, I see someone has already posted while I was trying to be clever. LOL

I don't like the heat either but then I am 7 month pregnant

turbo5019 I know what you mean about the heat when preggers. My DS was due 4 sept too (2006 he was 3 weeks late though born 25th!!) September is the worst time of year for it isnt it cos you've got to go through the hottest months. In July/Aug when I was preg I used to go for walks along the beach in the evenings and have a paddle in the sea. It was great for soothing swollen feet and the sea breeze really helped cool me down. :)

Ouch just added up spends and I've got through more than I would of liked for so early in the month:mad: but friend who normally takes me shopping is away for two weeks so hopefully I have bought in enough to keep us going for awhile:rolleyes: Its raining here, hopefully wont get too wet or dh wont be working tomorrow SE gardener! Whats left of the chicken from roast is in the slow cooker to get stock and bits for a pie and a rice dish. Made two boiled fruit cakes mil took one home with her also made 3 rolls of cookie mix for the freezer so I can just cook them as wanted rather than them eat the whole lot! Roasted the veg that was not looking at its best and just blitzed it in the blender so if they get the picks later they can have it with some tortillas. Must definetly try and gets some NSD's in:o

Well thats another NSD- 3 in a row whoopie doo. And even though our new Tesco opens tomorrow I AM NOT GOING  Don't fancy fighting my way round the shop, and am expecting things possibly in the post again so at the most we will venture out to the park early on or later in the afternoon. Might try the new Tesco later in the week when we actually need something and all the hoardes have found something else to entertain them
Off to relax now and get some knitting done so cardi is finished when it actually fits DS :cheesy:
    Tata for now.

Can anyone tell me if bean-based meals freeze OK? Not sure if they'll go mushy  This is the result of my concoction to use up the slightly-out-of-date dried exotic bean mix, which was a success! :j I used the bag of beans (think it was 500g), soaked overnight then boiled for 10 mins, an onion chopped and fried with some garlic, 3 medium potatoes diced, 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, a squirt of tomato puree, some dried basil and oregano, salt & pepper to taste. Bunged the whole lot in the slowcooker, topped up with veg stock. Left it on low all day, but had to turn it up for the last hour as the potatoes weren't fully cooked. And it was delicious :D Had some for tea last night (OH liked it so much he had 2 helpings) with HM bread rolls made from the recipe on here a little while back :T

Anyway, there are 3 servings left, which will be ideal for taking to work as lunches, so I'd like to freeze them.

Have got some carrots starting to look a little sad in the fridge, so am going to have a bash at carrot and coriander soup later.

Also managed to get me some Stardrops. Brought the grubby, greasy marks of the catflap in no time! Tho one of the puss cats had a sniff and is now looking at the catflap suspiciously and refusing to go out :rotfl: But, that could be down to the fact that it's blowing a gale outside, rather than the fact that his catflap is now fresh and fragrant :p

Yes bean meals freeze fine. Never find they go mushy personally although they soften a little because of the defrosting and microwaving.

Had a very tiring frustrating day today. Took kids to Sedgemoor splash at 12.15 and said Id collect them at 2pm. 1.15 they phone me to say that they are no longer in ther cos the clock there was wrong. They thought it was 2pm and it was only 1pm. so they only got half hour swim for £3.30 each!
Anyhow-I went back and complained and got one admission price refunded.
I was in Asda(making the most of time and fuel) and on reading the message got a bit sidetracked and left my cereals at the end of the checkout where there were lots of bags. Id seletced the ones with the free swim on too-how B***** annoying! So £4 of cereals left at the till.
Too far to go back-its 45 miles. Ive phoned them though and customer services are going to call me back tomorrow(or I may call them)and I will try to get it refunded onto my card.
Then I went on to Glastonbury Tor and it started raining on and off. I cant do the tor cos of my bad knees but the kids(well 2 14 yr olds) went up on their own. Had a nice walk around the shops in Glastonbury-weird and wacky-still a few people there from the festival. Kids thought it weird and wonderful.
Would have been a good day but perhaps Im too money conscious?
Oh the rain coming home-it doesnt half flood in those lanes. Oh I should be grateful we all had a good day and stop whingeing-rant over!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

hi, have died and gone to food heaven - twinks' hobnobs are heavenly - have to try and forgot them as am a rosemary conley member and do not want to sabotage my weight loss!!

the soft bread rolls are great too. Made them today for packed lunches - it is amazing that dd1 will eat them - she don't eat much!! so she will have for packed lunch tomorrow.

I have spent a bit more than iw ould have hoped for too at this stage but have done a bit of a run through and meal plan based on what is in cupboard - i have loads of pasta so will be a bit of a pasta and fish week.

I really want to do it - and have never been this careful with money - makes me feel like i am helping with debt rather than jsut spending and we are eating well and lovely homemade stuff. I have always cooked but never very thrifty.

    thanks again to everyone.

Well I'm already £100  into my buget as I did a big online MR T shop today but this is enough for three weeks worth of meals ( I hope, keep forgetting that DD eats enough for a small army).

I sat down at the weekend and had DD and DS write down the meals that they like then I made up a menu planner for the month, this way I'm hopin their will be less waste as both DD and DS are very fussy eaters.:D

Twinks are approx 100 cals each if you got about 40 from the mix, so you can have one a day as your 'treat' without sabotaging your weight loss.

just did a tally up of twinks - i got about 55 - i made them small for dds as they would still want 2 each time. But to be on the safe side will still count them as 100 cals or i'd be liable to eat 2 and still count as 100!!

my spelling is so awful - used to be good when i still used my brain!! although managing this money is far mroe challenging!
