Hi everyone. First time post. I'd like to join the July challenge please, but not sure how it all works. Do I have to do anything else other than send this post? I'm retired, get pension 4 weekly. Looks like I'm spending £36/£144 per week/4 weeks at the moment, not including dog food and odds and ends, do my shopping fortnightly. Would like to get down to £120 per 4 weeks so will try for £135 now starting 16th, i.e. £67.50. How do you get the line under your message with a note of your spending? Thanks in advance.

Spend best part of £70 in Mr T today, but most of the haul is in the freezer/garage so should last ages. OH looked at me like I was a bit potty when he spotted the 6 blocks of butter and 2 blocks of cheese going in the freezer :rotfl:
Could have probably waited til I actually need the stuff, but I wanted the voucher for 5p off a litre of petrol as I have a 500 mile round trip to visit my folks next weekend - after a week of driving to work, my car should be pretty empty by Friday, so I should get my money's worth from that voucher
Will have to pop in again tomorrow or Tuesday as now decided we're having twice-baked potatoes with the steaks I got for a meal this week, and need stuff to make them.
Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks offHave really enjoyed having the time to bake, wish I didn't need to work for a living! Got the BM on at the mo to make iced buns for OH and I to take to work - usual routine is to take sweets from wherever you've been on holiday, but since we didn't go anywhere we'll take home-made stuff instead.:p

Not quite a NSD, we spent 44p on 1 pint of milk at Mr T.
Welcome gillaman and other newbies. Please ask any questions you like, someone will answer. Also if you're having a hard time during the month or feel really pleased with your efforts, its good to share your thoughts with like minded people.
Thanks Angelnikki for looking after us so well and thinking of Mrs M and her family during difficult times.

Just made a batch of Jammy Buns. It's my grandmother's recipe and she always said they were something her mother made. Since my great grandmother was born in 1856, I guess it goes back a few years. Wonder where she got it from..............

hi everyone- well today has been a NSD, lazing about after night out last night. Grocery spends over the weekend were: £39.61-we've spent more this week than we've been spending since joining challenge but I don't think I'll have access to shops next weekend and OH shopped with me (always ends up dearer) so that he's got stuff to bung in oven when I'm away.
Also had to buy a gift and card for my aunt and uncle's weddding anniversary (party last night) but was pleased that I only spent £11 including the card. Speaking of cards- card warehouse- budget cardshop chain has a sale on lots of its birthday cards twice a year, june/july and january. I try to stock up on bitrhday cards for our extended family and get 50% off during these sales so spent a few pound in there yesterday.
Also have started a spending diary in excel for al other spends to see if this saves me as much money as the grocery challenge:rotfl: .2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013
