Super Tasty Bacon, Bean and Sausage
Two medium onions, chopped
200g bacon, chopped into pieces
400g sausages, chopped into 2cm pieces (easier when frozen!)
2tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
800ml passata or 2 tins chopped tomatoes
4tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp wholegrain mustard
2tsp chilli sauce/ flakes
1tsp thyme
Stock cube (can be omitted!)
2 400g tins beans or 800g fresh soaked beans (any really, kidney, butter, cannelini, I'd do a mixture of whatever I had in the cupboard!)
Fry onion and bacon
Add sausages until browned
Chuck in the vinegar and sizzle for a minute
Turn down the heat, add everything else and simmer for 20 minutes
Eat with crusty bread from deep plates or bowls
MMM....

Other people don't - they have seperate budgets for that so it is really up to you.
I know that's not much help, but if you work out what you have to spend maybe you could have 2 budgets - one for groceries/household stuff, one for extras? It really is up to you on how you want to do stuff? how do you feel about putting them in?
Thanks Denise - if I include them it makes the budget look awful and is a bit demoralising but I think I have to at least include the food ones. Maybe what I will do this month is include everything, see how bad it looks and then refine next month and maybe have a cleaning/household/gifts/extras budget as well as the groceries one.MFW Challenge (Tgt Date Nov 07): ACHIEVED FEB 07!

1. £2.92 on b'day cards in MrA - exclude?
2. Dinner out last night - £43.05 (ouch) - exclude?
3. Lunch today bought from bakers £4 - include?
Thanks
There's no such thing as cheating... it's your challenge, you can choose what to include/exclude.
I always include everything that I buy from MrT with my grocery shopping and takeaways/food out as they will reduce the need to spend on groceries (and the amount I have to spend on groceries) IYSWIM.
So do it whichever way that suits you.
I reckon that Super Tasty Bacon, Bean and Sausage would serve about 8 people (or more) if you served it with rice/mash & veg and yes it can be frozen.

I went to Mr T's this morning and managed to spend £69.36:mad: I'm not sure how as I stuck to my list and didn't think I needed that much. Ah well, I'm still within budget... just but still got to get through to the end of the month.

Sounds like a plan to me...:D Don't get demoralised in your first month, as it's ALWAYS a shock to see what you spend, hence the need to write it down.
The good thing about seeing it in black and white makes you realise that you can change it so it's never a bad thing, only the first phase of a good thing IYSWIM.
I bet you were like me before and just thought, "god that was a lot to spend on a takeaway/eating out" and then promptly forgot about it and wondered why you had no money at the end of the month...now you are looking and thinking, it really helps you stop wasting money on junk and helps you save - not that you can never eat out again, but at least you know the changes you have made/will make will allow you to splurge every now and again for a special treat.:D Keep going girl, you are on the way up! :T :T :T

The way I do mine is I have different budgets for different things purely because I want to know what areas I need to cut back on. Ive allowed my budget for food ony(I now include the cats food too)
I have a separate budget for presents and for cleaning/houelold stuff so mine looks like this:
Food
Petrol
Medical
Clothes
Household
Toiletries
Entertainment(meals out, days out but not takeaways)
D.I.Y
Gardening.
However, I am soon going to lump a few of these together
Household+toiletries
DIY +Gardening
Ive only separated mine because I was spending on average £200 pw and thinking "wheres that gone"?
I now know how much has gone on what area so one day I may well lump it all together and call it a housekeeping budget.
Im also keeping a spreadsheet for a year and recording these different totals so that next year it will be realistic.
No right way or wrong way. What will work best for you? What do you want to learn from this apart from reducing your spending?
Just been shopping and collected my milk Id left at work and only bought:
12 FR eggs £1.99 at veg shop
2 packs of sugar at Iceland £1.50
6 pints milk reduced at Somerfield £1.56
I was good for once!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
