    Better late than never right?

After coming in under target for May, I/we stopped keeping track in June. But wanting to get back on track for July! I need DH's July spend info up to now in order to tally up what we've spent so far, but let's aim for £220 this month.

Off topic but affecting my mood and lack of posts last month is that I'm feeling down about my dear old dad in the US who has still been in and out of hospital since I was there. He is quite weak and has dementia, and there are lots of questions about what care he needs and how much that is going to COST. I'm still working out when I can next go over but it is difficult being so far away, and of course air tickets also cost money that I don't really have.... arrrrggghhhh!:( Maybe time to go over to the Boost Your Income thread....

OK glad I got that off my chest.

And happy birthday to you BargainRzl! _party__party__party_

    Happy Birthday BargainRZL

Gosh am struggling to keep up with the board this week- you all are prolific typers as well as prolific savers!! :D

Am feeling confident that, bar emergencies, will come in on target this month- will only celebrate next week though!

Some sunshine and blue skies here so off for a lunchtime walk shortly- did much baking last night and need to walk off the muffin(s) that I have eaten today!! :o

    Hmmmm!

    Off to do some work!

I signed up to bring a trifle to a bring-and-share lunch on Sunday. How best to do it OS/MS? (We're not near an ASDA but are within OK reach of all the other supermarkets.) Any suggestions of tried-and-tested MS cake recipes that would work well in a trifle?

    Cheers,

Welcome to the challenge MissPin, hope you manage to save enough to go to Oz.

Oh and another thing! This has encouraged me to start cooking/baking with some pretty good results! My sis has always been known as the "good cook" and now I am giving her a run for her money!!!...casseroles, pasta bakes, muffins, cookies, cakes....

Luckily, for my waistline, I am a fitness instructor (PT) so not too detrimental yet!

    Hello everyone.
NSD today I hope. Have just made Twinks Hobnobs, they are soooo nice.
Has everyone stocked up on F&V from Lidl, half price offer ends Sunday.
Did anyone manage to get any chicken from Mr M. everytime I have been in they have run out. apparently people have been buying their quota and going back to a different cashiers to buy more, the manager said people with food vans have been buying all the burgers.
Hope you all have a good day.

Just got back from Sainsbury's and managed to keep my total down to under £40 which I am amazed at! They have lots of offers on at the mo - like half price broccoli (49p a pack), nectarines for £1 a punnet (to ripen at home so they will last), £1 off raspberries and two packs of mince for £4-50. Also, Radox shower gel at half price - 73p all varieties! I have saved £5 on the full price of these items so that has gone straight into my Pin Money savings pot. I have just under £150 to last till the end of the month so it should be do-able.

I have split the packs of mince in two and put in the freezer - each will do OH and me two meals if I bulk it out with veg or lentils etc. Haven't tried the oats trick yet as we eat loads of oats in porage everyday( and in the Twinks!).

So, I am a happy bunny today. Won't be going near a food shop for several days so hopefully no more spends on groceries at least till next week (am having a hair cut tomorrow but that's not in the gc budget).

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
