dialaphone and o2 want more money!!

The missus decided she wanted to take out a contract last night so she found a deal on dialaphone and ordered the phone she wanted. She had an email from dialaphone which stated that they needed more details from her.
She phoned them and they said that o2 want a deposit of 100 quid as some from of security, then after three months she would get it back.

ive never heard of this and as a result of this she has decided to cancel the order.

what is their reason for wanting to do this as i have had several contracts with o2 and have never had to pay this deposit!
the only thing i can out it down to is the current financial situation the country is in.

thanks

Probably some reservations from the results of the credit check.

    It does often happen.

Correct. Several companies need deposits of up to £250, refundable after 3 months of paying bills on time, just for security. She didn't pass the credit check for a contract without deposit unfortunatly.
Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out - but I can usually shut her up with cake!
