Don't they leave a trail? - maybe follow this to where they get in?
Ah yes, you see this is the centre of the mystery. There must be more than one if the amount of tracks is anything to go by...either that or it's one that is !!!!!! on all the beer traps and is wandering around endlessly on a mission known only to itself.
We have looked at where the trails seem to start and end, but there is still no visible signs of an exit or entry point..1 It's like they disappear into thin air...:eek:0 -
same here. It's like the switch on the shiny trail in the middle of the carpet.0

Ha - I used to live in a house with the little bleeps. My coffeemaker started to run really slowly, so I got the trusty vinegar, ran it through a few times, hmm, once more for good luck - and out it popped. A slug had developed a taste for caffeine.

Any vegetation around the outside walls? - If so clear it back, ditto any general rubbish or anything creating a damp area on the outside.0

During the day you never, ever see them but at night they come out from wherever they hide and creep about the ground floor. I have tried beer traps, salt, slug pellets and slug powders (have treated where they seem to be coming in through the walls with powders, it doesn't stop them). Nothing works to keep them away. The little !!!!!!s are all over my ground floor and my carpet is trailed with slug trails every morning. I have ensured ever since I have lived here that the house is heated properly and well ventilated (I have a child with asthma). How the heck do I get rid of the slugs.
Eeeewww you totally have my sympathy. I lived in a ground floor flat in Portsmouth and wondered why the LL had left a slug/snail leaflet thing in the drawer. I soon found out. They came out at night and would climb the walls too. I was forever anxious that I would go to bed and they would slither over me in the night after finding one on the wall behind the headboard.
Nasty things, I hate them and freak out if I see one indoors. Apart from the salt thing (which leaves a bluddy mess when it kills them) I never did figure out how to get rid of them.
Weird thing is, I go on a mums forum and got talking to this girl on there who used to live in portsmouth too. I mentioned this flat to her and the slugs and she said she too lived in a flat with slugs in the same area. Turns out we both rented the same flat at some point. How spooky is that then!! The slugs reuninted me with a fellow renter!
Good luck getting rid of the pests!0 -

I'm still recovering from that surprise! A new coffee maker was bought - but strangely, I wasn't quite so keen on coffee after that.0 -

LOL I prob am. Bought a chinese once that had a fried woodlouse in the rice - and I ate most of the rice. Did tell environ. health about it though and they got the place sorted out.
Nothing could ever be as gross as the story my friends mum told us about someone finding a chick in a pickled egg.0 -
" Nothing could ever be as gross as the story my friends mum told us about someone finding a chick in a pickled egg. " Oh god, you have put me right off my tea. I am really funny about eggs at the best of times, especially since hubby likes to wind me up by calling them 'chicken periods'. Yuck.
Anyway, back to the slugs. At university we used to put a trail of salt round the skirting boards. That used to stop them.0
