I have been reading reviews on office 2007 and I was amazed that many people thought Office 2003 was better, has anybody had Office 2003 and upgraded to 2007. Which is the best in their opinion
Many Thanks

Definetely the 2007 version is far better than the 2003. I think many people have got used to 2003, they find the 2007 difficult to understand.0

I think if you have 2003 it is much easier to understand than 2007. I work in an office where most people use Office 2007 however they used to have 2003 and liked that far better. Personally I have Office for Mac and its really good.0

I have used 07 for around a year now (I got laptop in Sep and put office on it then) and didn't really like it, still don't. Prefer old school. However theres not really much difference except navigating which takes getting used to, especially if you are used to 2003.0

I believe 2007 is better but im sticking with 2003, better the devil you know and all that0

aside from which you prefer to navigate, you'll find most of the population are not on 2007 yet so you'll be forever fannying around saving your files as 2003 anyway else noone can open them!
The amount of 2007 files we end up bouncing at work because we cant open them is daft!
I'm giving it a year or two... (and i just dont like the feel of it!)0 -

You can download an add-on for Word 2003 that will allow you to open 2007 files. Check here.
The interface for Word 2007 is actually pretty intuitive. It's just that it's so different from 2003 and earlier that many struggle to get used to it.0 -
2007 takes a bit of getting used to. but to be honest if you have a choice the extra benefit you would get from upgrading are in my opinion minimal, particularly (as already mentioned) if the people you wish to share files with are on 2003.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Thank you for all your replies I haven't got office I am still using works!!!!!! I was going to purchase one and couldn't make my mind up whether to purchase 2003 or just go for 2007 and as I had heard 2007 was much harder I better stick with 20030

Once you get used to the "fluent" interface it's is actually far more intuitive and much quicker to navigate and use. I still use 2003 at work and so have been using it for years. I've had 2007 ultimate for about a year or so at home and I'm much much quicker on it. As for the new file types they're much better as well. They save things in only a fraction of the memory as the old .doc etc. I think anyone who sticks with 2003 over 2007 is nuts and simply refusing to get used to changes is quite funny considering that change is the very nature of technology. I now wish every app I had used a ribbon interface. So far there's only Mindmanager 7 pro on my PC that does."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

At work we are changing to 2007 from 2003 and have been 'playing' with 2007 for a while. It is different but once you find things IMO it is much better than previous versions. Drawing tables is a doddle and the way you can preview changes saves time.
Our admin people think it is brill in the main with one or two old school dissenters.
Go for 2007 and remember to save docs as 2003 by default rather than .docx format and you should be ok. but may lose some formating/new features when saving to the format.0
