the problem is the cuts being brought into force
i see more and more ''!!!! ups' every day
    some minor,some big clangers!!
its only going to get worse im afraid
our office just now is ravaged by the summer (col)lapsing
already the upper management has sent down outlines for further cuts to be made to the office
today i started 1 hour early and worked 3 hours past my time
i will most likely do the same all week till saturday
my dept is being held together on overtime
    yet more cuts are required

I hope you are paid overtime custardy. My local postlady is amazing and I know you all work very hard. I work briefly for complaints as a temp in Islington and I was glad to leave. The staff are great, it's the procedures and management that stinks...quite a lot like jobcentreplus actually.

I had to post a parcel yesterday (Happy Birthday Glad, belatedly) and Special Delivery would have been £5 odd but with a premium of £2 if I wanted it delivered on the Saturday so I chose 1st class for less than £2 and it arrived this morning no problem.

My local PO is a true hub of the village type of PO and the friendliest of places to visit.

the main reason RM charges a premium for saturdays is an interesting one ;)
many couriers and companys with downstream access to RM's system would use SD to deliver on a saturday(and charge their customer a premium) to save using their own network/couriers
datapost were well known for it
i dont know of any DO that specifically doesnt deliver SD items on a saturday however given the way staffing is just now it may start
i had to go out in overtime today to complete SD items we had no staff to cover the duties fully

i get paid overtime which is great for money, however the way it is just now and the duties i perform mean im 'forced' to do that overtime to keep things together
an example in our office is they have cut/removed a duty who in part covered charged or as we reffer to as BR items
    eg underpaid letters etc
so there is nobody to do these
so yesterday i did 3.5 hours overtime doing a weeks worth of items
that 1 weeks delay in those items for the recipients! i pulled all the birthdays cards etc out and wrote off the charges as im not charging somebody ofr a card thats most likely a week late
there is no news on fixing this issue so im assuming this will be a weekly duty for me
as it is i need to work 6 days and stay late most days and this is the supposed quiet period
    xmas anyone?

While I'm praising my local PO can I also just praise the Dell Sorting Office, I daresay custardy will know that one, but any time I have to pick up a parcel I'm always treated efficiently and in a friendly manner.

As a final update. They sorted it out. Refunded via cheque, and a letter which was signed by a human being. Quite quick about it too.

So, thank you to RM. (could have done without the stress though).
