Thanks Taxi, not much movement on the job front here. Especially getting the 'right' hours.

Think I will take the jewellery and see how much I am offered for it. Making sausage and apple pie (all in one) for tea. Its everybodies favourite, so should have clean plates all round. Have rubbed in lots of flour and fat into breadcrumbs and left these in the fridge so for any other pastry recipes I am ready to go. Makes it a lot quicker for when I'm in a can't be bothered sort of mood. Best go and attack the veggies.

Hi Lucielle. Bad luck on the job front-more fool them. It's a nightmare trying to find a job to fit around your family isn't it? I'm intrigued about your sausage and apple pie-have you got the recipe as it sounds really good and I've got so many apples from our trees that I need to put to good use.HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

Sausage and apple pie all eaten. Recipe as requested
10oz P flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 oz butter diced (I use marge)
2 1/2oz lard
egg to glaze
Filling
1 lb pork sausagemeat
4oz smoked bacon (I only put this in if I have it)
1 large onion chopped
2 eating apples peeled and cored and chopped
1 tbsp fresh sage chopped
salt and pepper.
I usually put the sausagemeat, bacon (if using) apple and onion in the food processor and whizz. Make up the pastry as you would normally, lie a deep pie dish, add the filling and put the top on. Oven on at 180c bake for 11/2 hours or until pastry is golden. Serve hot or cold. Hope this makes sense if not let me know.
Had a lovely evening last night. The whole scout troop went to the beach to build castles, so instead of going backwards and forwards fetching different ones home, we all went and OH and I went to the pub for an hour. Going to town and taking the gold so will let you know how I get on.

I am picturing you laden down with gold like an African queen. Hope you get a good price for it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Well, I was offered £185 for a necklace and 3 rings. I haven't taken it, not really sure why not. I phoned OH to tell him the price and he said I did the right thing. At least I have an idea how much to go for if things get really tough. Still not sure if should've sold it.

That pie sounds delicious, may have to make it for the tribe!
Does the jewelery have a sentimental value for you, is that why you want to keep it? At least you know how much you could get, unfortunately, it's probably a fraction of what was paid for it.
Hope you are keeping well, I really enjoy your diary, it could only be improved with photos of what you're cooking today!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Not sure corned beef hash is very photogenic!!! Jewellery has some sentimental value but I think its more what was paid for it. I know I will never get that much for it, so maybe its a question of adjusting my thinking? Have been on Hypnos diary and I am thinking about doing the ISA through Legal and General and getting the cashback, need to talk to OH about it.

Thanks Lucielle for the pie recipe. Think i may use it when we have friends to dinner on Saturday. It sounds delicious. I had the same problem with jewellery when i took mine to get a price for it-it doesn't hold it's value does it?HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

Do you ever wear the jewellery? If you don't, I would be inclined to sell it anyway. £185 would be a good contribution to the debts. Could you get more for it on Ebay?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
